Distinctive valvetrain sounds?

I've been around bikes now for a few years, owned a few and ridden a few more than I've owned.

The Triumph 675 & 675R has a very distinctive valvetrain sound, different than any other bike I've heard, very different. Almost to the point of sounding like the cams are gear driven. It has that whine or almost turbo like whistle.

There are plenty of people around here way smarter than I, so, Why is this. I dont think it's just because it's a triple as opposed to a I4, and I've never read or seen anything that indicated the cams are gear driven. So what's up? What's so different?

Cam is chain driven
the balance shaft is gear driven by straight cut gears. The straight cut gears are the ones responsible for the whine

Thank you, its been a huge question for me as well. I thought it was something in the intake manifold that caused that when air was sucked in, or something to that affect.

The whine of the D675 engine is 1000x better than the Yamatick.

My R6 sounded like it had no oil in it all the time
