I installed the rest of my frame sliders from motovation. Got the front, rear and engine ones done... and did the rim tape yesterday :)

I've got a set of the2wheels black levers on my FZ6R, and they're the same color as when I put them on a year ago. Granted, my bikes are garage kept, and were in winter storage for over five months of that year. But even if they only stay black for two seasons, I could replace them three or four times (6 or 8 years) and still not pay what I'd pay for one set of Pazzos, or ASVs.

That being said, I did order the Triumph branded short levers from the dealer when I ordered my bike. These are just Pazzo levers with "Triumph" etched on them I gather. Since they still haven't arrived and it's now been two and a half months, I think I'll cancel them and get something somewhere else.

So I decided I like my bike better on its side and now get the privilege of repairing the damage. The first picture shows whats left of my Woodcraft frame slider and in its defense it surely wasn't designed for what happened to it. The damage was caused when the slider bent back and contacted the cylinder head.

how are you liking the 520 conversion? I guess it's hard to tell considering you also went +2 in the rear? Overall though?

....and damn Talus! How do these R/R's just poop out on people just like that with no warning! worries me.

I'll be moving out of the country next month and this last weekend was the last free one I had. I decided to do some road trippin. Took a ride up to northern Mass on Friday to see SalisburyGuy. About 200 miles to his place.

Image

Saturday we got out to southern NH and into Maine for a bit. Weather was in the 90s, but there are ways to beat the heat and keep the ventilation going  Some decent miles.

Sunday we took a big ride up to Mt. Washington in NH.

Halfway there:

Blue skies all day until we were 1 mile from the mountain. Then complete darkness.5 hours into the ride and 1/4 mile from the access road, the sky opened up and downpoured for 15 minutes. We went to the lodge across the street to wait out the rain. When it stopped and the roads dried up, we went across the street to go up the mountain. They wouldn't let any bikes up because part of the access road is dirt, and the staff felt it was unsafe. We kicked stones for an hour, and tried again. No luck. Still, we hit some mountain roads in the area and burned some premium octane.

Yesterday, Monday, I headed back to Connecticut. 170 miles into my ride home, and 30 miles from my house, my low fuel light came on unexpectedly. I only had 44 miles on the tank. I pulled off the highway into a commuter lot, turned off the bike and checked the fuel tank. Plenty of gas. Went to turn the bike back on, and...nothing. lights came on, pump primed, but the starter made one struggling click and that was it. Phoned my old man and he came to the rescue.

Dead RR? Yep. Got home and put the multimeter on it. No charge. Called TJ this morning. Put in an order. Pulled the old one an hour ago and now I wait.

All in all, it could have been a lot worse. About 950 miles in total this weekend and I was waaaay up in the middle of nowhere Saturday and Sunday. I could have been stranded. I was very fortunate it died so close to home and my weekend wasn't spoiled with this earlier on.

Yeah me too!

Glad to see you were able to get a good ride in before saying goodbye to your ride. Sucks that you got bit by the R/R bug, if you get it ordered now it might be here by the time you get back.

Have a safe trip and don't forget about us!
TJ is good with parts. Should be back on the road by the end of the week.

I'll be in lurk mode here on the forum when I'm in Honduras. Lots of projects and work to keep me busy while I'm down there.

Fantastic ride this past weekend. Speed Triple on Saturday, Explorer on Sunday to MT Washington (almost) :(
What if you got stuck on the montain? Holy sheeet! So lucky it was on 30 miles from home.
l
Not looking forward to your last trip back to Salisbury where you drop off your bike and take off for Honduras for the a year. :(

WAS and AM still nervous about this, but i sprayed my GB clutch and alternator cover today with high temp paint. One of them was super light gray-ish plastic and didn't gel with the engine so much. So I took a chance. I'll be throw'n these on this weekend. Hopefully they'll match a bit better. *fingers crossed* If not, well....i'll sort something out.

If they do, i'll do the stator cover as well.

Gave the Street a full detail, washed and polished/waxed all fairings, headlights, mufflers, washed and detailed wheels and tires, replaced front globes with whiter and brighter ones and put in green parker bulbs.

Then just for the hell of it I gave the helmet the full treatment as well

bike and helmet look better then when I took it off the show room floor

GPSCity Part numbers:

RAM Mount Diamond Plate with 1 inch Ball RAM-B-238U - ball to mount on GPS mount

RAM Mount Garmin nuvi 1490T Cradle RAM-HOL-GA35U - or whatever mounts to your GPS

RAM Mount Short Arm B-Socket RAM-B-201U-A - arm to mount on ball

RAM Mount Motorcycle Fork Stem Base with 1 inch Ball - goes in fork stem

^ I ditched the rubber expansion plug that comes with the stem mount and got a 12" section of all-thread and put a cap nut on top with a lock nut on the bottom. Also have a nylon spacer sleeve that fits over the threaded rod and goes up into the tube, just to keep it centered. This way the whole assembly tightens down snug and can't be rotated.

most interesting I may bug you about materials and setup if I dont like this but so far it works really well. Went to a park today using the GPS and it worked perfect.

The disassembly was easy. I don't have the new stator yet, so I'll have to get back to you. It's pretty straight forward though. A few fasteners to secure the stator into the cover. A few fasteners for the bracket for the wiring. Put the gasket on and put the cover back on. Plug the two connectors back in to their mates...and then put the airbox back in and tank back on. If I had all the parts it wouldn't take more than a few hours total.
