"by law" in the UK police are not supposed to enter chases with bikers. only safely follow them until a bike cop or chopper can get on scene. basically if you want you can always out run a police car if they haven't got your plate down

 

ahh ok sort of the same thing here with our no chase law unless its for certain felony pursuit. Law came about after a local cop chased a biker and the cop crashed and killed a lady, of course the biker was long gone.

UK has always used MPH, and miles, and feet. They use the metric system for nearly everything else though.

However, if I weigh 140 pounds, they will also say you weigh 10 stone. Which isn't metric... think it's Scottish.

Basically this muppet had been riding like a nutcase regularly on this route and the Police decided to just get him on film rather than attempt a stop

There's a lot of discussion on some forums in the UK about the police riders riding. Was it really necessary for him to follow so fast for so long through 30 and 40 mph speed limits and built up areas when he knew he had no intention of pulling the guy?

 

That cop was cool as a cucumber..

I'd have to wonder at what point did the guy in front think he was playing "racies" against another speeding rider?
Did the chase make it worse?

never mind license gone i think that will end in some jail time as well what a total knob! it's not like he hasn't got any tracks around there for track days. the bike cop pissed me off as well seing as he broke as many laws braking the solid white lines plus the best of all was when he said the rider in front allmost had a head on with another rider i would have said the bike cop was a lot closer to a head on at that point so i think its a bit hipocritical of him to say that!

 

I didn't see any real unsafe riding. He slowed to 40 - 50 in tight traffic, his passes were not risky. The cop made dicier passes to keep up.

As for the scotts, they had to use the only unit of measure available to them. They gots lots of stones.

 

The fella's missus bought them both fish and chips for tea, what's a bloke supposed to do? Let his food go cold? :laugh:

 

i think this was in mcn, I agree with most of you that the cop was out of line if he wasnt running with blues and twos he had no business chasing the rider,
i also agree that the cop was more dangerous than the rider, (apart from the 60mph wheelies) fair play.
Its a tuff one to call, if we are all honest then we would say that we dont buy sports bikes capable of 150mph+ to stick to the speed limit,
however i believe there is a time and a place, obviously that was not it!

I suspect that he will get away with it on the basis that the cop was completely in the wrong making the evidence inadmissable surely?
if any one knows the latest please post.

I think the policeman has had a bit more specialist training and my money would be on him rather than the guy just hammering around. He was cool and calm as anything and the rider was probably shitting himself every overtake.

I don't see how the cop was completely in the wrong at all. How do you figure? His legally backed job was to gather evidence, he's been trained in high speed pursuits and he was calm and collected and appeared to be riding well within his limits.

In a court it would be absolutely piss poor defence that you were riding like a dickhead (like every time you got on a bike) and then someone else came up behind you and you rode faster and more like a dickhead to have a little race game.

 

He was given a two year suspended jail sentence and ban and ordered to do 240 hours unpaid work. but he still faces jail after police handed him notices making fresh allegations of dangerous driving on earlier dates.
They really want him locked up for this, they even parked up while he refuelled at the service station before following him again.

 

I didn't see anything wrong with the riding. It was just the fact that locals had complained about him doing this EVERY day!! He deserves to be arrested for being stupid enough to do this every time he rides.

 

i read that the police rider even parked up on the roadside while the guy stopped to fill his bike up
if the police were really concerned this guy was such a danger then they would have nabbed him there and then, i wouldn't put it past them to use this as an excuse to make us bikers out to be evil baby killers

 

there was a piece in MCN about a year ago reporting Northumberland police force using marked, and unmarked Honda SP2's. Other forces could definitly be doing the same.

It didnt look like it had much more push after 130 though.
