j/k.....

since i stumbled upon your thread, then read about replacing the R/R and then frolicked :trampoline: in the Eastern Beaver site, i've already dished out some dough today alone, by bying a "new"-used R/R and wanting to rewire a few things on my bike.....

I guess i'm just saying thank you for directing me to the EB site.:cool2:

D'ecosse, this is great info. I've been searching around to get a cheap FH008 reg but they're in high demand cos just about every bike forum in the world is following your recommendations!

I think a group buy for FH008's would be popular if anyone knows a good source.

There's usually quite a few over here (price varies wildly of course!) - the newbie squids like to crash the CBR 600's so they keep the supply going!

I just picked one up for $40 shipped last week or so (for the second time)

There's one on Ebay UK at ÂŁ60 = $100 which isn't too bad. It just annoys me that UK prices are 2x what they should be.

Cheers

EBAY LINK

US$40 and they ship worldwide. Unless shipping to the UK is $60 (which I highly doubt) you should still come out on top :)

They're certainly 2x US prices.
Try to find one on EBay US - many of the vendors will ship overseas.
It should fit in a small flat(fixed)-rate box which is $13.45 to UK Priority Mail ~ a week.

If you can't find one in the UK, just order the one from the link above and ship it to me. You can paypal me however much it costs to ship from here to the UK ($13.45 according to the USPS site).

PM me if you're interested.

Coils blown and regulator fried

Followed your advise dude, had the coils rewired and put a 07 CBR 1000 regulator on , end of all my problems, you wont believe how cool the honda regulatro runs compared to the triumph one, thanx buddy

R/R was still good when this one failed:

I then replaced the stator with an aftermarket stator and followed D'ecosse's instructions and upgraded the R/R to an FH008. My charging system has worked flawlessly ever since. Thanks D'ecosse; you have MORE than proven your expertise on this subject to me and many other thankful motorcyclists.

Triumph have done all they are going to do on this issue by moving the R/R to a different location for 09-. They will not recall even if everyone kept going back to the dealers. There simply aren't enough people experiencing the problem for them to think they NEED to recall. I have an 06 with original R/R and stator and have never had a charging problem. Perhaps some people have had dud units, or their battery was discharged enough that with the usual riding time that their bikes see the charging system is under constant strain trying to charge a weak battery. There isn't a clear case that the same component is at fault in every case.
Forums attract people with problems, so think of how many 675 riders are out there, having never joined a forum becasue their bike has been 100% reliable.

I'm about to do this mod. I can't quite decide on which r/r to do. Which one is easier. Btw, I just tested my R/R and removed my stator (just in case). The R/R is toasted but luckily after visual inspection and tests as outlined, My stator has been tested good (Thank goodness). I want to try and order all the parts by tonight so I can start riding the bike again...

Thanks for the replies in advance

Follow the original post in this thread and you'll be fine.

A quick bit of advice... If you're not used to working with these specific connectors, order two sets of each instead of just one. Practice putting them together on the first set, then do the real thing with the second set. Had I done this I would not have inserted my pin the wrong way the first time around, and pretty much screwed up the contact pins... causing a bad connection. That's fixed now though.

if anyone has a spare left over or what ever RR that is from the CBR or R6 etc that is comatable. HIT ME UP ASAP. if u have one with the conectors already switched. PM me.. i may need to get somethin workin real soon... (like yesterday soon

Yes, taking the tank off is easy, but just make sure you disconnect the quick connect fuel line connection from the tank before pulling up to high on the front of the tank or you risk torquing on the fuel line and causing it to split and start leaking (speaking from experience here :-o). Just raise the tank high enough to slide your hand under there and squeeze the tabs on the connection and disconnect it.
