Just bought this brand new Nexx Carbon helmet. Absolutely love it I got a great deal on it...but. I bought an XL because it is completely comfortable everywhere on my head except one spot. My ears are stuck. When I put the helmet on my ears flip down and do not flip back up once I have the helmet fully on and comfortable. I have to literally hold my ears to my head before I insert them into the helmet, and this process generally only works half the time I try. I have never had to do this before with any other helmet and I have a feeling it is going to kill me doing this for the next few years. Is this what other riders do daily or am I just a lost cause?

Also, I still have the tags attached. Can be returned just need to pay return shipping. Also also, I ride 3-4 times a week. This won't be just a couple times a year thing.

Putting my helmet on always flops my ears down. I just run a finger in through the face opening and flip them back up. I do not have big ears, it is just what happens. I thought everyone had this happen. I have had to do this with every helmet I have ever owned for the past 35+ years.

always had the impression that if that happened the helmet didnt fit your dome.

ive had helmets feel like its going to rip my ears off when trying to take it off but never had my ears flopped down when in. there are ear holes in helmets which id assume ensure that when putting the helmet in the hole would allow it to naturally fall back into place if it did bend down when putting it on

Only helmet I've had that the same thing occurred was my AGV X-Vent. Nice helmet, but very uncomfortable due to the ear flop thing. So after wearing it a few times I just put it in a corner of my garage to collect dust.
I tried the carbon Nexx on a couple of times at a store, and found it to be pretty comfortable in the XL size. Normally I take a large, but with the Nexx that was too small for me.

My ears have flopped down on all my helmets. I've a Shark RSR2, AGV GP Tech and now an Arai RX-Q. I have been wearing a head cap or skull cap ever since my RSR2. Solves the issue!

Some helmets just have a very small egress, NEXX is one of them. My Shoei RF-1000 is like that too, though not quite as bad. If I wear my Shoei 3 or 4 days in a row, I actually get tiny scratches or cuts at the very top of my ears and it hurts for days. So I usually trade off with my Arai so it doesn't happen too much.

Honestly - I'd send it back and find another brand, your ears are not going to adjust.

I'm thinking sending it back and finding something better shaped for my odd head is my best bet. I can't believe I didn't catch this when I tried it on before I ordered it

I've only ever had this issue with helmets that had too small an ear pocket for my ears. If the pocket is large enough then my ears will flip back the way they should. If I wear a helmet with too small an ear pocket for more then a few hours my ears usually start to bother me and I can't wear earplugs either.

I know this is hard to do but I never buy a helmet without trying one on first. I tried a Nexx and while it was nice it weighed about the same as the RPS-10 I ended up getting and the RPS10 has a nice liner and was more comfortable (for me). Not to mention better crash reviews then what I've read and have been told by people who have crashed in them. Not to mention it was 1/3 the price. I'm not saying price should be a motivating factor when buying a helmet but with everything else being comparable it's certainly a nice factor.

For people like myself there really is no place to try on helmets other than the cheap piece of shit ones I would never wear, so that is why I do biz with TJ and STG, if you get it wrong send it back haha

Actually it is quite different!
How sexy a helmet is doesn't even come into it for most people and a womans attractiveness or sexiness isn't relative to how big a headache they are as they're all a pain in the ass! LOL

Either way, just tape your ears with electrical tape like old mate in that link and your troubles should be gone whether its women or helmets we're talking about:whistle:

Under Armour cap for wearing under sports helmets. you can get them at Dick's or Sports Authority etc. put it on, tuck your ears in and it just slides on. also moisture wicking so helmet stays less gross

There is only one fit for helmets and that is the smallest size you can wear without instant headaches. If you get headaches after wearing it a while due to tightness (not shape issues) that is good and is what you should expect. Afte the lining breaks in the headaches go away. Typically a proper fitting helmet can not be worn for very long when you first get it. I wear mine around the house to break them in before I ride with them that way they don't hurt when I'm riding.
