Picked it up at the dealer today.
Today was a good day :D
Check out www.flickr.com/mhbpicz for some first pics (or see below  ) . More later on.

Things that came to mind:
- Front brake calipers AND discs are both floating, never seen that before.
- Throttle response is good. Nevermind the comments ive read here and there, it realy is just fine. Its one of the best injection systems ive ridden. If i can handle/accept it, anyone can.
- Toolkit indeed only contains one allen wrench
- Both headlights are on (dutch version at least)
- Rear taillight is LED
- Fuel useage so far 7,2 liter per 100km
- Left and right mirrors are positioned slightly different, one is more forward than the other.
- Supension still feels good, not to soft, havent been pushing yet...
- Why does it rain when i pick up my first brand new bike after weeks of no rain?

Very nice and congratulations you lucky b?ÂŁ$*^d :D

Hopefully only a couple of weeks to go now for me...damn black bikes it takes them an extra two weeks to make them faster than the other colours it seems :D
Congrats on the new bike, sorry, I forgot the cancel the afternoon rain showers :( And I hear the problem with Black is it keeps stalling out & getting stuck going through the line

I seem to have your attention.. ;)

Believe me, I enjoy!

Its done 250kms now (damn rain). No problems, nothing to bitch about.

I'm running it in sort of by the book. I never get the rpm over 8000 and try to stay between 5000 and 7000. No full throttle. Thats my free interpretation of what the manual says.

Its such a great bike. Ive been pushing it a bit harder (tires are now scrubbed) and its a joy. Especially arround town. At higher speeds the wind becomes an issue, but there is zero turbulence and the speed sensation helps to maintain my license. The readily available torque can be a great help for getting out of trouble. The throttle response i still think is very good. Bumpy roads can have some effect, but only if you're inexperienced and grip the throttle very hard. It's just very light and the engine is powerfull,.. thats all.

I checked the coolant tank, its different from the one on the D675, so no problem to be expected with the elbow.

The speedo isnt very easy to read in broad daylight, but thats been said before (reflections). The gearbox is as smooth as silk and faultless. I do mis warning lights (i would use them during lane splitting). The mirrors work remarkably well, i can see something other than my elbows, but they do make the bike wide. The seat is just fine, i only felt a small discomfort in the ass after 90 minutes continuous riding. Pretty good i think. No pain elsewhere. My girlfriend says its pretty comfy on the back also. So dont order the gel seat just yet!

Looking at it a bit closer you can see the great build quality. Most nuts and bolts are stainless steel. Braided lines. Small protective stickers to keep the seat from rubbing the tank...

The tires seem to give a lot of confidence. Tried to lock up the front but made stoppie instead. Wonder how long they will last.

The street also makes those weird modem noises after shut down.

Anybody that buys a new motorcycle without trying the street triple is making a big mistake.

I'll be making some more pics tomorrow. If you have any requests let me know (no my girlfriend is not going to pose.. ;-) ).

Help me hope for a dry day, we havent even had a real summer here this year...

...and does anybody have some good advice on keeping the exaust headers in good shape? What should i use? The manual says something about motorex..never heard of it. Would WD40 protect it or would that just burn up?

I used an oil based water dispersent on the Sprint I own, on the part of the pipe that goes vertically upto the tail and it turned it a sort of straw colour!

Actually I would never use wd40 on any bike I used to use it on my dirt bikes for a while and it is a great degreaser, offers no lubrication and seem a tad chorosive on some surface's its also great for removing stickers etc

so other than to free up the odd corroded fastner (and then only mixed with some other oil) I would never use it

I appreciate the feedback you're giving. Sounds like you're pleased with the bike overall. What are your first impressions with the handling, or the steering in general? I'd avoid WD40 on the pipes. I use Simichrome to clean up my pipes. It does a pretty good job of general cleaning and polishing. In a wet climate you'll have your hands full trying to maintain the exhaust system. Keep on posting your observations. It helps those of us that have some time to go before taking delivery here in the states. Ride safe.

hmmm..not to keen on WD40 huh?
I use it as protection for all metal parts and of course for cleaning,..removes chain grease like no other.
I never use it to lubricate.

A bit more about the handling. I think is steers very neutral. Never had the feeling that would fall into a corner or run wide during exit. Each time I take a small corner I expect to fall into it, and then feel a jerk when re-applying the throttle, none of that. Still surprises me....
Tried one my favorite corners which gets exciting arround 100km, felt as easy as ever.

I like to pull/push hard on the bars on the highway during lane changing.
This works well with this bike, because of the leverage of the wide bars.
That means that you can manouvre very very quick and easy.

The seating position works. Its easier to look past/over cars. Checking whats happening behind/beside you can be done much quicker than on supersport. This helps during those quick decission moments..

Just checked the tire presure.
Book says: 2.5 Front 2.9 rear.
Now its 2.2 and 2.6
Wonder how it behaves after adding some air.

Tried to adjust the gear lever (to high for me).
Could not do it by simply loosening the lock nuts and rotating the rod.
It was allready on its shortest setting, so ill have to do it by rotating the lever on the axle.

The bobbins i used on my 600rr dont fit. The street has some other mounting points for protection on the rear bridge (?) which doesnt make using a normal paddock stand any easier.
ill be shopping for some specific bobbins.

The front brakes are a work on its own.
Besides the fact that they work just as good or better than the radials i had on my 600rr they have a nice technical detail... has anyone else ever seen floating calipers on the front in combination with floating discs before???

Tering rain ! :x

weather protection

I've got a friend who swears by (not at) FS365 by Scottoiler, he reckons you can spray it on anything (not brakes!!!) and leave it on, then when the better weather comes, you simply clean it off and it's all shiny again.

White is best..cos black shows up the dirt much worse.
