And just like that...it is over... She burned to the ground today, without warning...

Damn bike just shut off... So I pulled over to the side of the road... Noticed smoke and a tiny flame under the tank, I guess the wires down there around the R/R or something ignited... Spent the next 20 minutes watching her cremate herself by the side of the road... Yes, it took that long for the Fire Dept. to arrive...

Bye bye Elka shock... Bye bye pazzos... Bye bye Hyperpro damper... Bye bye all the other aftermarket bits... Bye bye 675...

Notice the missing chunks of swingarm... And the subframe is totally gone!

Stay tuned for my future fire sale (not parts from the fire, but all my left over stuff, like stock bits, track bodywork, etc...)

Christ................. :-(

That's horrible. Good thing is that shit didn't happen when you were ON the bike or a situation where it ignited and you were pinned or something horrible like that.

That's a shame! I thought this only happened to r6's... :-(

Hopefully insurance will take care of it and you'll be back on the road again soon!

I was on the bike when it happened... It shut off on me, like it just died electrically... The RPM just stopped, and I looked and saw the dash was off and the throttle non-responsive... So I just coasted to the side of the road thinking I was having a typical R/R electrical gremlin...

When I got off I noticed the smoke and heard some crackling, and looked deep under the tank/seat area and saw a little orange flame... Probably one of the electrical wires caught fire???

Too hard to tell as the whole thing is melted down now. I doubt any kind of forensic investigation will be made... Other than that the bike was running just fine all morning.

I'm sure it'll end up on youtube...A lot of people stopped during the fire and pointed their cell phones at it...Filming or photographing it

Anyways I do have it insured, but they'll just total it out for it's blue book value I hear. :(

I wonder if somehow the fuel line wiggled loose? Just speculating since I haven't had occasion to pull my tank off yet and don't know for sure how it's attached.
