I just dropped a nut in my air box. Do I need to worry about it?

 

Only if it drives you nuts. There's a filter in there it won't get past.

Hi guys, im new to the forum and the street triple, im coming off of a honda xr650l in supermoto trim and im lovin this thing so far, just picked it up this morning, anyways, here is what i already did with her today.
Picked up my new 2012 purple street triple

And within an hour and a half i made her a red street triple

 

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the bike. How'd you change the color so fast? Photoshop?

 

Dealer had all the red tin in stock. Tanks was the only thing that gave a slight challenge but even at that it wasn't too bad. The front fender and two rear pieces took about 10 minutes front 10 minutes back and the tank was the rest of the time and even at that the tank swap wasn't too tricky. Hardest part was trying to get the pump out of the tank.
So far i only put 50 miles on her today but i love it so far, hopefully going on a little longer ride tomorrow.
Just wondering anyone have any experience with the competition works fender eliminator with the small turn signals off the side of the plate between the mufflers? Im hoping this will be my next pic up in this thread.

 

That makes sense. Nice choice with the red. I like that color a lot.

My friend just put a Comp Werks on his bike. It's a quality piece. Dunno about the install though. He had the dealership do his.

I put a D3 unit on mine tho. I'd recommend it based upon the build quality.

Went for my first ride on the new stripple on sunday. Stopped to take a leak and realized just how beautiful the scenery is in upstate NY.

Yes, that is a deer carcass and pile of trash next to the no littering sign.

Back on topic, i LOVE this bike, Pulls hard like my SV down low and then keeps pulling all the way up to the top! loving this freak summer weather in march, can't wait to get back out again!!!

Shopping for tires today. My Q2s are almost toast. Found some vendors online and I'm between the Dunlop Roadsmart and the Bridgestone BT-023.

 

I just went with the roadsmart IIs. From reviews this tire seems to be the best sport touring tire available today. I read a review comparing these to the pr3s and the bridgestones and after testing these won hands down.

 

threadlocked all my rearset bolts today (found more missing bolts too wtf). stupid dealer shop just slapped them on without loctite. Also wiped down my rims to rid of their greasy finger prints

 

Just got my Apex adjustable clip-ons installed. Got some crappy bar end mirrors that I am most likely going to change, the right side doesn't seem to want to tighten up real well. Overall I am happy with the Apex clip-ons, good amount of adjustment, still tweaking the positions a bit.
Had to leave my flyscreen kit off, doesn't fit with the clip-ons and would most likely look weird with it on anyway. So I need to decide what I am going to do with the instrument cluster, may just get a stock cover and paint it black.

 

Hey Rob, looking good mate.

Don't forget to check for tank / thumb adequate clearance on full lock both sides.

Also, make sure that all your cables don't get too tight on full lock, or that any part of the switch gear doesn't hit the tank.

Just use the stock instrument cover on the back of the clocks...



I had to move my master cylinder main brake line to clear the instrument panel on full lock, thereby getting some air in the lines.

No problemo, thinks I .... I will just bleed the front brakes again to get rid of the bubbles.

Well, I stuffed one of the soft allen head screws on the master cylinder top and it took some real buggerising around to get that fracker out.

I finally won by using a soft head hammer and a pin punch to shock the wrecked screw loose. Thanks to Chris at Northside for the replacement screws.

All is now well.

Lots of Imperial Stormtroopers up there today, I saw four different cars, so be careful!

There was a new one, completely unmarked, colour was greenish / grey.

They are sure to all be out tomorrow, looking for you.. heheheh...

Thanks Sp00ky, the cables appear to be all fine but full left lock is just touching my my instrument panel, I was going to check your settings and compare notes next time we catch up, weather is looking good for tomorrow so may see you then.
I'll take your advice on the Imperial forces given my close shave last week.

When I woke up this morning and pulled my bike out, I was checking the tire pressure and saw a nice white band in the center of the rear tire. They are that worn. When I was having my bike dynoed this morning, the shop is behind a BMW dealership and they stock Michelin tires..and sell at the prices where you'd find online..so it just made sense. BUT, being a BMW dealer, they don't even change tires on other bikes. So I'm going to wait till Monday to have them put on somewhere else.

 

Undermoose has these on his, and he's a big mileage guy. Considering I just ride on the street, I think these will be just fine.
