Took the front end apart because I thought one of my fork seals was leaking. Was going to bring the forks in to get new seals and fluid. Found out it was much worse than that. :(

I feel dumb for not seeing this when I bought the bike, but it was turned inward toward the wheel...like the seller intentionally turned it to hide from the next owner. It is real apparent the previous owner wrecked the bike since the rim was bent, the radiator cowls and signals were taken off, and this fork is damaged. I cannot stand dishonest people. I think this may be the last used motorcycle I purchase unless the bike has less than 5k miles or a year of riding. My luck just isn't there with used bikes.

sorry to hear :( dont think a replacement tube from a breakers would be too bad - or perhaps might get lucky off of here, with the guys doing daytona front end swaps?

oh, tie up them calipers, I think thats pretty bad for the fittings

Installed a gel seat. My original seat cracked and eventually the cover was falling off so that the foam was showing. This only happened on the lighter gray material located on the very front and very back of the R seat. Not too happy with that since the bike was garaged for the first year of its life and during the winter. It does stay outside now.

I would have looked into getting it re-covered in Alcantara, that stuff's pretty nice, though not sure how it would hold up living outside 24/7/365.

sucks dude. sorry to hear that. I had a hard time finding a 'well kept' used bike for a long time, and those that were in 'ok' shape were way over priced. That's how i ended up with the new bike. Peace of mind really. Look on the bright side, these 'fixes' will only bring you closer to your bike and you'll learn a ton from it. Fix her up good and then you can be the new 'responsible' and 'honest' owner of it.

Bought a used pitbull rear stand off a friend who sold his bike. I practiced lining up the spools and putting the bike on the stand myself and back on to the kickstand again. Also, cleaned/lubed the chain. MUCHHHH easier than my old process: Clean/lube visible/reachable parts of the chain, roll bike forward a little bit, repeat over and over.

Been meaning to post this since the weekend, but I installed a bunch of parts with the help of another forum member (cush1227, thanks bro). Heat-wrapped and fitted the Arrow 3-1 lowboy, Ballistic battery, LSL sliders, Attack rearsets, BMC Filter, SAI blockoff/delete, tuned with TuneECU and gave her a good washing. Mirrors, axle sliders, and body panels should be here this weekend and they'll get put on quickly too. Now the pics.

All of this involved a bit of patience and a little cursing too, but was definitely fun and made the bike more fun too.

What's the positioning of the rearsets like compared to the standard setup?

Al.

In the lowest, furthest-to-the-rear setting, they are still a little higher than the stock rearsets. They also feel more grippy on the feet.

full clean, and polish, chain stripped and re-lubed. this was down the old school way of rolling the bike until i could see a new part of the chain and then spraying it up. It has made me decide to order a paddok stand!

then went for a bit of a ride around the south, about 120miles all in. A32 - A3 - A272. just outside of Billingsworth pulled in to BP to get some fuel and there were 2 brand new McLaren mp4-12's parked up. filled her up and grabbed a drink had to rush a little but managed to get behind them and was then flanked by another 2 still with some cellophane on!! had a bit of a play then turned around to go home.

checked tire pressure. checked oil. checked coolant.

changed my oil last night only to realize i bought 3qts instead of 4.

I had a little less than a half quart left over from the last time so i'm pretty close to full. Back up to the dealer for another qt when they open.
