No, they are still in there. I guess the mic on my camera picked up the sound pretty well. I actually can't get the DB killers out because the little retaining ring is like rusted in there. Won't budge. I'll work at it over time, but I was going to leave them in there anyway.

 

Got Triumph to agree to pay for the replacement of my stator (parts + labour) on my 09 STR! :grin:

A couple months ago I had the R/R replace under the recall. I was hoping that would fix the problems I was having with charging... It didn't.
I then did some debugging on the charging system and figured out that there was a bad phase in the stator.
I emailed Triumph and asked, and they told me to take it to a dealership for them to check it out. I did, and they found there was a bad phase in the stator. (surprise surprise!) Triumph gave them the green light to replace it! YAY! Now just waiting for parts to come in.

If you are having a problem with your bike, it really doesn't hurt to ask! Asking, saved me like $800! ... Well, not really because I would have bought a crappier non-OEM stator and installed it myself... but still... ASK!

You really should have a nice circlip plier to remove those. I've found myself putting them in and out quite a bit and having a nice set of pliers makes it a 2 second job. I don't see the weld in these photos, I'd just say you need to squeeze it hard and it'll come right out. Your young and single, squeezing it hard should come natural. :laugh:

As for the badge - that's going to be real hard to come up with a new one. Individual Arrow parts seem to be as rare as honest politicians. So treat those circlips like gold. They can spring away from you when you remove them, lol.

 

i see the weld its a tiny square tac welded on the top between the two holes of the snapring

 

That would be the cleanest weld ever, lol. My welds were just "dobs". I saw the rectangular thing, but didn't take that as a weld.

edit... It could be a chunk of metal they may have pressed into place. It's def not a "weld".

I was amazed at how.. even after 2hours in the saddle, the bike still felt light and easy to flick in and out of corners... I thought i'd be exhausted, but I sure wasn't! Once I hit the freeway though on the way back it felt weird... traffic, high speeds... yuck

 

Got it dynoed. 109 rwhp with a 50 tooth rear sprocket but the tuning was more important than the numbers

Semi-permanent locktite failed to keep the rearset pegs on so I upgraded to permanent locktite.
Got the touch-up paint for the frame and fixed up a few stone chips.

Spent most of the weekend fitting a genuine trailer hitch to the Camry. Finally I can tow the bike to track days and those twisty roads that are so far away. :grin:

 

Sargent Seat...big difference!

Hi all... Bought a new 2012 Street Triple R (phantom black) this spring and am loving it! New on navigating the forum...but definitely enjoying it! Just got my new Sargent Seat this week and it has transformed the ride! I recommend this highly! No more pitching you into the tank and now can ride for hours without issues....will post pictures if I can figure it out. Have added rear hugger, fly screen and rear grab rail. :cool2:

Rode it. Group of 7 riders, 222 miles, one get off. He's in good shape, just a few scrapes and banged up a little. Best possible outcome for the situation. 650 zook scooter trying to hang with a sumo on sketchy asphalt and hard twisties.

Odd group we were and I didn't get a photo. 1 scooter, 2 harleys, a sumo, 1 Honda cruiser, a Cbr1krr, and my triumph. :laugh:

Cannot thank the local volunteer ems enough for their hospitality. A man named Sam was first on the scene in his pickup as a vol firefighter coming from his house up the road. He ended up letting us load the busted scooter into his truck and hauled it down to the nearest town where his station is while we waited for a friend to come with a truck. Gave us free roam of the station while we waited 2 hours for the truck to arrive. Sam is a hell of a man! He wouldnt take anything for his help. We offered money and dinner to no avail. Thanks Sam.

 

I know what its for, I did a complete video on the thing. If it wasn't tacked in place then it was glued... which is irrelevant on how to get the baffles out.

 

Took the bike out for a spin for the first time since putting on the Arrow pipes. Not sure I like it. Was hoping to be giddy and still hear the noises that I liked about the i3 engine except louder...except it wasn't like that. Just had more of a drone that I was hoping to hear and it started to blend in with the inline 4 exhaust note with aftermarket pipe that I'm not too fond of. I had the baffles in, I will try and see if it sounds better with the baffle out. But I'm starting to think the exhaust isn't for me...and may just resell the exhaust again to get my money back. The i3 engine is awesome, just the characteristics about the exhaust note seemed decreased when I put on the Arrow pipes. Weird I know! So yeah, may sell the pipes. Just doesn't sound as good at the V4 engine I had with my previous VFR lol. All a preference thing.

On the plus side of things, I adjusted my handlebar. Tilted it backward a little bit and it actually feels a little more natural. So that was good.

 

I think they're too loud with the baffles out unfort! and agree with the droning unfort - just around 4-5k rpm though, pics up after that nicely imo

a tip for getting said baffles out, if you cant just yank em with pliers; take the exhaust can off completely, and ram the baffle out from the otherside with a broom handle

 

My Street needed some Dali in its life.....

i had the headlights replaced as they started to go 'hazy'....was there a indicator recall?

 

I got my STR forks today, that I purchased off a seller on ebay. I was hoping to install them on either of my rostered days off this week, but I'm going to need to find some brakes up for sale.

This goes along with my fender extender that I bought that rubs on my tyre. I'm sure having a lucky bike week this week. :cuss:

Last ride for this season today, tomorrow it's going to the dealer for winter storage, service and new tires.

Now it's time to get the sled ready for the winter!

 

I have the Arrow slip-ons, and with the baffles out it is pure sex! (gonna go stroke them cans now...)
