Hi, I bought an Ohlins Steering Damper last year but went to Japan, Hong Kong and generally got too busy to bother looking into getting it installed as it didn't fit in the stock fittings on the 675 daytona. I got it pretty cheap (win to that!) but the person who I got it from (got told about this person from a user on this forum) has n't replied to any emails when I've asked about any fitting kits etc as they mentioned they thought it might fit the stock fittings or not too hard to find a fitting kit or someone to fabricate something to get this it to fit (big boo to that)

So, all the crazy stuff of late has settled down enough for me to have spare time and therefore actually remember that I need to install this heh. Having one's wife get pregnant with our first recent, come off medical insurance weekly benefits (but they gave me enough $$$ so I don't HAVE TO look for work for 2-4 years is great!) and apply for disability benefits (I can't work full time at present due to my pain and injury so I'm needing to be on benefits I guess whilst I can't get full time work) but hey, I'm babbling. I'll blame the CRAZY UNDII PLLS I am on (oxycontin, tramal + lyrica are the main ones).

So.. the meaty stuff. It's an Ohlins SD 121 steering damper stroke 68mm. I have seen the full kit (damper + fitting kit) for Daytona 675s on ebay so I assume there must be fitting kits sold seperately for these??? It seemed to be the same model steering damper from what I recall, it was a few weeks ago I looked them up and only for a moment. Any help with finding a fitting kit would be totally awesome, prefer Australia for conveniencebut anyone can give me overseas contacts and I'll look into them/use them if need be it.

Much appreciation for this, I'd like to ride the bike with a steering damper as I had to take off the stock one ages ago due to a couple reasons.

THANKS :grouphug2: *fingers crossed* I can find a fitting kit soon!

Hey Undii,

I think that was me selling the damper and fitting kit on ebay! I bought the whole unit off a racer in the UK, so I didn't source the fitting kit. As far as I know, no-one officially makes a fitting kit for the Ohlins so people tend to design their own. From what i can remember, the Ohlins I had used the OE bracket and just had modified/designed spacers to fit it into the stock position.

I never actually fitted it because despite being the shortest damper, the sd-121 was still too long to retain the headlights - total length being ~40mm too long. Because it came from a race bike, it wasn't an issue, but bear that in mind if you are planning on fitting it to a road bike.

Here are the pics from the auction if that is any help:

Thanks
Luke

Thanks for that. I might end up reselling it on ebay and look for another damper. I can't be bothered stuffing around, few things have lowered my tolerance of late. My pain (forgone conclusion there heh), news we got like 1/2 hour ago that my wife's nanna fell over, smashed her shoulder, hit her head and is now "a drooling mess that doesn't know who she is or anything" and her husband had to get radiation treatment for facial warts or something the other week so his face is all swollen from the treatment and he is an emotional mess atm.

And my dad has been sick off and on (on at present) lately so health issues = bleh atm, I'll just move on and find something else to concentrate on. Thanks for the informative posts guys!
