Well, here's the write up to my [life] story! :p

I'm from the southern side of Melbs, down in East Brighton (Australia, Victoria). I've only been riding on near to a couple of years, but have had a few years prior on dirtbikes & around cars, etc. most of my life.

I love my 4 wheels just as much as the 2 wheels variety (just not some of the tossers that drive them!), currently with a '68 Ford Fairmont in it's original guise & a '55 F100 Pickup 'in the build' phase & a work van for my daily duties! (Qualified Sparky by trade)
Previous cars included an 808/rx3, 2 ser. 1-3 RX7's, 2 68-69 Ford Capris & an F1000 Bongo van! :icon_razz:

I had a little licensing issue around the time I really wanted to get my motorbike L's in which time a good mate of mine that I introduced to bikes (Via the dirt variety), ended up getting his license - the bug bit him hard!

Also in my waiting period, both my mother & brother decided to follow suit! :icon_sad:
My old man has had his license for years so he was already ahead, but bikeless nonetheless :icon_razz:

My mum got a scooter first, followed by my bro on an RGV 250. I got my license in between all of this... as shamed as I am to say, I spent a good month or 2 riding the scoot which wasn't TOO bad as it was a 250 also! :icon_redface:

A couple of months went on and the funds came through so I jumped into buying a new 2008 Ninja 250r, which lasted almost on 1 year exactly. Around the year mark, I had an off of no fault of my own which resulted in a broken arm, fractures in my wrist & ankle & a torn ligament in my foot - to this day, still not 100% healed. :icon_confused:

Bike ended up getting written off (this was about mid-july last year), a replacement was ordered under full insurance which I left to my mum as she had sold her scoot since. Spent a good 6months off the saddle because of mis-diagnosis on a couple of things & slower healing which wasn't so bad because I wasn't in the market for a new bike just yet anyway. Restrictions were to be lifted in January which left me some time to start testing bikes.

Now, the story goes, I was pretty sold on the Z750 originally - I never wanted a sports/'racer' bike as I just can't stand the day long hauls hunched over the bars, nor the higher insurance premiums & because I actually like the naked looks better! As stated, the Z750 was more in my price range & probably the only real naked out there that had any appeal in my eyes... THEN the Street Triples were discovered. (That & the same mate I introduced had already bought a Z750 in the time I had off because of my accident, so I didn't want to be a sheep! :icon_razz:)

All that was required was a test ride to sell me on the rideability & a little extra savings & I didn't even want to look at anything else.

Feb 2010 = Shiny new 2010 Matte Blazing Orange Street Triple R!!

Thanks mate!

Have definitely considered a tail tidy, but I kinda like the stock tail as it is & don't really see the need to replace it. For the sake of wasting a couple of hundred dollars & making my bike illegal, I'd rather spend it on something else.

As for the pegs, they kinda get used every now and then so....

I have considered converting the ass end to a daytona rear, in which case I would do the following:

- Single seat cowl,
- Integrated taillight w/ turn signals
- tail tidy

As said above, if I didn't have pipes under the seat (ie: a 3-1 system), I'd do a tail tidy, but I feel with the pipes where they are, it fills the rear quite nicely & actually looks a bit silly with the plate right up in between them :S Just my opinion though, & that may change! :p

very nice indeed

1. Thanks
2. Thanks - I like it equally as much :p
3. As above
4. Yeah, have had a peep, but it seems to lack a bit of structure.
5. I'm actually after a few things, mainly some headlight protectors that DON'T use little 3m tape to stick them on... possibly some bar end mirrors or low height/slimline type normal mirrors & some aftermarket levers.

Really undecided on the levers :( Can't decide whether or not to get Shorty or Long, or Short & long & for which ones & also colours & BRAND!!

Pretty much decided on either ASV or FP Racing as my fabs. Thought of going Gold with black adjusters, but I reckon it's too out there & figured maybe the opposite - Black levers (or even Stealth [Matte] Black) & Gold adjusters!

Decisions Decisions! :( :p

Welcome in - bike looks sharp - I especialy like the pipes from the rear view.

You got the best colour too!

I took a StTR for a day and really fell for it. Around town it was a bigger gas than my D675 for sure. I was alnost tempted but I do a lot of long distance trips and having had nakeds before I thought better of it.

Good luck with it mate!

Thanks Triang, the only thing that still kinda kicks me a bit is the fact that most of the parts I've put on it are just factory Triumph things that anyone can buy and doesn't really give it it's own character.

I've toyed with the idea of a custom tail/daytona tail but feel it would just butcher it a bit much, so I don't really know where to go with it all. :S

As for the bike, I really don't notice the wind, it keeps me alert in a way! :p Kinda compensates for the sore wrists on the longer rides, we can't have everything! lol

Cheers again,
Daniel

Cheers dude,

I fell in love with the pipes when I saw a dualie Yoshi system - I do have a fetish with symmetrical things though! :p Upon searching found that there was really only a 'generic' pipe in the yoshi, but eventually stumbled across the Blue Flame stuff. Really great, highly recommended pipes & great build quality with great service also.

To top it off, I paid close to half, if not less for these posted to my door compared to the bigger brands! (Ie: Akras, yoshi, 2Bros, etc.!)

Some new photos:

Have since bought a little something new, being:

& Just down at Half-Moon bay for some scenic shots!

Also had a remap done from Charlie @ TurnOne along with a K&N Air Filter. Bike is extremely crisp now & doesn't miss a beat! ;) Both baffles are out now too by the way, for some reason I'm quite used to the sound & it doesn't seem anywhere near as deafening as before!

Bought a Triumph 20/30 Litre Tank bag for it too - tried both & felt that the 20 Litre was not in any way imposing, opened up to 30 Litres it does start to get quite large, but I couldn't justify the tiny size of the smaller version vs. the price comparison!

Really loving this bike & the bug has bitten hard. Next on my list will definitely be some shorty levers, radiator guard (& possibly headlight guards) & big maybe with some rearsets. BUT, saving for a holiday, so they may (WILL/SHOULD) have to wait! :p

Enjoy,
Daniel

Wow I love the look of your bike Grumpy, looks great with the gold wheels. You'd think and orange bike with gold on it might be a little out there but it goes really well IMO. I got shorty levers in gold for my orange R and I love the look, I'd like gold wheels now but I'm not gonna copy. I like to be original too.

Haha thanks hebs! The gold wheels was something I wanted from day one but that triumph couldn't offer! (it's very unlike buying a car, you can't just pick & choose!)

I was a bit hesitant after actually, even after seeing the rims up close nextto the bike. The SE colour is almost a yellowy kind of gold, I only went through with it cos I figured once he tyres died, I could always get my now 2nd set of rims repainted/coated closer to the actual caliper colour. But, now that they're actually on he bike, they go with the calipers, top yoke nut & the orange perfectly!! I'm really wrapped with how it all turned out!

The rest of the bike just keeps getting better! :p I'm still hesitant about the levers as I feel it may just be a bit 'bright' & overdo the whole gold thing that I'm going for. Hence, why I'll probably just go with black but a gold adjuster just to highlight them! :s Do you think you could post/PM some photos of yours on the bike from a distance (ie, whole bike in photo)?! It's just really hard to picture!

As for 'copying' by all means, go nuts mate. If you like it, don't let me be the one to stop you! :p after all, you're not in melbs so it'd still be unique anyway! :p

Nice looking bike, the gold wheels are what I've been after for ages as I have a black and gold theme on my toy (except for the wheels).
Please could you advise where you got them from.

My sister lives in Brighton East opposite the golf course and if readily available I'll buy some next time I'm over and carry them back on the plane, too far to ride.

#19 ·
Haha thanks Macka! I don't know about readily available, I was just lucky that a fellow forum member saw that I was after those ones that sold from tassie & offered me his own instead!

As far as sourcing them, I don't know about colours or SE wheels, etc. but I priced wheels direct from triumph & I was shocked!! :| $1200+ for the front & $1500+ for the rear, no guts (bearings, etc.) no brakes, just a bare rim!!!

You just have to wait for an SE set to pop up like I did ithink! :s personallythough, I'm in love, they complete it to the T! Now I just need some levers & rearsets! ;)

As for coming to check them out, by all means! Drop us a PM the next time you're in Melbourne! I'll be more than happ to show it off! ;)

Hey Grumpy, nice R model with the orange and gold. Mine isn't an "R" and it's all black. I'm thinking of getting the blue flame EVO3 Tri Oval in Satin Black, but I can't find a US Dollar price on them. Do you know about what these cost US?
Hey Gypsy! I bought direct from blueflameperformance.com you pretty much just have to wait until your fairly happy with the British pound exchange rate. I don't think/couldn't find any US dealers/distributors anyway! They are a fantastic pipe & the fact that nobody has seen them just makes them check them out even more!!! So not only dotheh look great, sound great & are built great but they pull in the curious on-lookers!! ;)

Cheers,
Daniel.

Haha I think I've created something Lola... I will definitely say I'm the first & only one I know of with the gold wheels so it makes me feel pretty creative! :p I hesitated at the thought at first but once I got them, there was no turning back! I absolutely love them to the point where I think they are the best mod on my bike! Completely non-functional/beneficial in any way... Other than keeping me connected to the road! Lol

Have you picked up those levers yet?! I'd also like to see a pic of them compared to the standard triumph levers if possible as I've heard - if this will even make sense! - that standard length aftermarket levers are actually shorter than factory standard levers (ie: triumph) & then the shorty aftermarket levers are even shorter again! I want mine short... but not moto X short!!! :p

Possible future mods, looking for opinions.

-Levers - ASV or FP Racing, can't decide.

-Steering damper - again, don't know, Ohlins or Hyperpro. I own the Triumph tank 20/30 tank bag, & want to make sure there will be clearance from the damper & it won't bind/make contact. I've heard that the Hyperpros can leak from other forums, yet I see nearly everyone on here with A/M Dampers owns one!

-Acerbis Hand Guards & some Heated grips for the colder months & some future touring - have only seen the Oxford grips so far but I really like my standard ones.

Thoughts please! :p

Had a dyno day today & got to see the result of my recent filter upgrade & remap/tune. Very happy with the A/F & overall Hp.

Here's a vid: Make sure to click HD! ;)

Little late on the reply, dyno resulted in 94hp atrw, how much of that is actually accurate I don't know - varying dyno's, air temps, etc. I've got the dyno print out but that isn't going to tell you much more than I've told you other than it's super linear and my A/F is near on dead straight!

Didn't get a torque readout as it was only a dyno day, and quick runs means less time to set up all the extra stuff needed.

UPDATE: Have since purchased a new pair of FP Racing Levers, short in Stealth Black w/ Gold adjusters. They. Look. Awesome!! :) & Feel great too!

Also purchased some oxford heated grips and did a nice little stealthy install on them - trying to hide cables on a naked bike proved to be a nice little task! These along with an Evotech Radiator Guard which will hopefully prevent anymore little dents in my radiator!

Possibly after some wider bars next & maybe a probolt kit in gold for the engine, etc. The list is endless! :p

Daniel
