Boots for wide feet and huge calves

I wear a size 9, EEE width in my Red Wings. On top of having some stupid wide Fred Flintstone feet, I have 22 inch calves. I have no idea where to go for riding boots. I figured, before I start e-mailed the manufacturers directly, I'd come here to see if I could get the field narrowed to something beside get hold of everyone who makes riding boots, hope for the best.

These are going to be my first pair of actual riding boots. My Red Wings have been doing great proxy duty, but after running over to Cycle Gear to try on their Trackstar boots that were on sale for $75, I've got the bug for real riding boots. Too bad I don't have the build for most of them.

Got this same issue. Hell when I did a dirt biking day, the suppled boots would not close around my calf. The solution was duck tape.

Best books I have hit are the sidi boots. I have 2 pairs, there adventure gore and a set of canyons. both excellent boots. but I have also tried there more sportier boots. For there sports boots they have a adjustable calf area which works out nicely. Unfortunately sidi's are not cheep.

Second on my list would be the Dainese Tourque Pro (Dainese Tourque don't have this feature) also have a adjustable calf. I did find a pair that fit quite nice but think I had some extra toe room. something I am rather sue to anyway.

For my current race boots I have a set of Alpinestars S-MX Plus. The good news is the calf is again adjustable. But the lower zipper JUST BEARLEY zips up past my ankle.

sidi, as a whole, seams to be best for out shared issue. Dineese and Alpine star may have some valid options but require just trying on.

I've got the Dianese torque pro out boots, and a lower down dianese model I cant remember the name of. I've got extra wide feet as well, and these fit great. I'm a size 11-11.5 us, 46 euro. However I don't have such large calves, but the tabs inside the boot to make the calf wider would be a huge plus for you. Id look at the torque pro outs, but maybe use them as inside-the-pants type boots(they have a larger inside diameter to account for wearing them with riding pants tucked into the boots, hence the "out" part of the name). However, these boots will set you back about $400 US. In my opinion they are well worth the price.

Yes, the Sidi Vortice/Vertigo Corsa have a lot of adjustability in the calf. That's nice not just for getting them to fit at all, but also for when you move between leathers-in-boots at the track and 'stitch-over-the-boots on the street... just turn the little adjuster.

They don't make those boots down to my size; I have a set of first-gen Supertechs that also have good ankle bracing and also have a lot of calf adjustability (although the mechanism isn't as trick as with the Sidis). The current-gen Supertechs might be worth a look.

The Sidi boots may be great fir calf adjustment but I always thought they were tight in the foot? I had a pair if Sidi Blades and thought they would stretch out but no go. Had to get rid of them. The OP wears a 9EEE! Sidi will accommodate?

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I've e-mailed a few of the manufacturers so far, but all I've gotten back so far was from Tourmaster, who basically said duuuur about calf circumferences. The local dealership had such a poor selection that it only became worth the half hour trip to sit on the ZX-14R and Z1000.

There's a local shop here that I'll run by later, but if if I can't find anything in the calf-high range, I may have to get the kind that go halfway between the ankle and calf.

Might have to wait until another bike show to get a good selection to try.

From what I've been able to try and from what I've been getting back from distributors since the manufacturers have been silent on the matter, looks like I'll be getting half-height boots. I've narrowed it down to:

http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=14894

I tried on Speed and Strength's Moment of Truth riding shoes, and found I had to go up two sizes to an 11, but they fit perfectly. If they offered a lot more protection and had higher tops, I would have gotten them.

I have the same issue, not such a wide foot, but wider than normal and little tree stump legs / calfs. I found that Oxtars fitted really well so I bought 2 pair, LOL. Unfortunately Oxtar is no longer available at least under that name, now they are TCX or something like that.

Tried on the SMX-1 in a 45 today, and it fit like a glove. Also tried on the Icon Superduty 4, and was amazed how uncomfortable around my heel and achilles they were, and how unwieldy they would feel moving around on the bike with them, compared to the SMX-1.

The SMX-1 is a good inch or two taller than what Speed & Strength offers, and has a much nicer profile than the Superduty 4 (at least I think so):

And the damage to my Red Wings so far:
