Wow, those new homeowners will be upset when they have all those cars and bikes racing through their residential streets on weekends.:coolgleamA:

Now there's absolutely no reason to go to Bryan/College Station (sorry aggies :raspberry:)...

"After a public hearing, the council voted 6-0 to grant conditional consent to create Brazos County Municipal Utility District No. 1 for about 553 acres located at 17529 State Highway 6 South, which includes the Texas World Speedway. The area is outside the city limits but within its extraterritorial jurisdiction. The proposed development would include 1,380 single-family lots along with commercial space and parks. Conditions include getting the city’s approval before issuing bonds, a development agreement, a strategic partnership agreement, and open meetings and financial transparency requirements."

It was bound to happen eventually. The population here is growing faster than the developers can build, and the speedway sits empty far too often.

Well in thirty years we'll probably be talking about how they are closing down COTA and how much we miss riding on it...

So it's not just Austin? It's becoming one big sea of condos here :unhappy:
I know what you mean. Every time I turn around there's another new apartment complex springing up to accommodate the constantly increasing student population.

On the bright side, it's going to take a while to actually turn TWS into a residential area. The city council only just approved it; now there's all sorts of permitting that has to happen. I can't see the track going anywhere until 2015 at the earliest.
