what is a good way to support my daytona so i can get the rear shock out? juggled the idea of running a rod through the swingarm pivot point and supporting it on jackstands or using the rear sets but not sure if they would be strong enough. any advice would be awesome

I just put the OEM rearsets back on. Then I lifted it up with the rear stand and put a couple of car stands (with a towel on top) under the main joint of the rearstands to support it.

What did you end up getting?
ditto here....till i got my pivot sliders then did it off them or the pegs depending

In a pinch I once put a step ladder (A-frame type) over the rear of the bike and used tie-downs to support the rear subframe from the step ladder.

If you have fixed pegs use jackstands as Tapcon has said.

1. Put the bike on the rearstand and remove rear wheel
2. Place jackstands under the fixed pegs
3. Lower bike onto jackstands by removing rearstand

Here you can see our project bike on a set of Pit Bull jack stands
