I got one of those too. The best part was it said "late fee if not paid by 8-15" or whatever the date was. I mailed a check for $0 and didn't hear back from them.
Hahaha, brilliant!

Lawyer up and take it to court! Don't let those cockroaches push you around!
haha I wont stand for this $H|t! nah I guess ill just send a check for 0$ and see what happens.

I got pulled over for having my visor up on my helmet because its illegal to ride without eye protection in florida. (i was wearing a helmet!)I live in a, to put it lightly, less well off part of miami. i think maybe the cop was trying to see if i was up to something. i wasnt. i hoped hed just let me go since i just moved to the state, dont know the laws, etc. but then he printed me 2 tickets(1 for riding without eye protection, one for failing to carry registration...) that literally say the civil penalty is 0$. i guess i can be greateful for that. aint no justice, aint no peace, still gotta LOVE the police:)(or theyll kick your ass)

This is the correct response. If you do nothing, they can continue to slap you with late fees (yes, even if it's for $0). I remember hearing about someone going through the same thing before. There was a limitation within the system, and the DMV required a payment (even if it was $0) to go through before it would show up as processed.

Just write a check for nothing and send it in. If anything, you then have records showing your fine and your payment.

I thought failure to carry registration was a mandatory court appearance in Florida. Or at the least you have to go down to the Clerk of Court and show you had a current registration at the time of the offense. I would look into that, Ive been pulled over for it in Daytona and they required me to go to court to prove I was registered. There was another violation (no mirrors) and that was thrown out when I showed I had the bike registered. The cop should have told you that it was a mandatory court date and written the date on the violation with the address and phone numbers for contact.

Just thought you may want to look into that.

Well i logged on to "pay" my 0$ and i wasn't in the clerk's database. So i called the miami-dade clerks office and they told me I wasn't in the database. So i'm not certain but im pretty sure i'm good. Police have the ability to look up your registration if you have your insurance card(VIN) and drivers license so i'd assume it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I'm good according to the clerk's office. I'm from texas and you don't even have to carry registration there. That's too bad you had to go to court. Miami is a crazy place... to say the least.

You still "carry" registration in Texas but it's stuck to your windshield instead. Just saying.

You don't have to "carry" the registration receipt which has the vin, owners info, etc with you in Texas unless its a Commercial Vehicle....ie; "proof of registration"
