I'm attempting to PC my gas cap and have it mostly broken down, besides the lock. Does the lock actually come out, or will it survive 20 minutes at 450*f? Does the seal on the bottom side come out? I know the top one will...

I would take it out. There's usually some sort of lube in it, and you don't want that to liquify and run on the rest of it....

If in doubt, drop into a locksmith.
They’ll pull it out for you and it’s easy as to drop it back in.
It’s usually held in by the release mechanism that screws to the bottom of the turning part of the lock (barrel), and another tumbler at the bottom of the barrel to stop it lifting when you pull the key back out.
Some will all but drop out, others need magic and the death of a chicken on a full moon.
