Running from Vegas up the I-15 to Ogden, Utah and back, seeing the girlfriend for a few days. Doing so an an ultra-non-existent budget though, no room for expenditure. I don't even have a working phone :p But I do/will have my Kindle and will check in on the forum when I get wifi. Let me if you want to meet up/help out with gas money, a crash pad, and/or needed equipment.

Leaving Vegas: 0830 Saturday, the 5th.
Arriving Ogden: Sunday afternoonish?
Leaving Ogden: Wednesday noonish?

Any advice will be appreciated as well.

Oh yeah, happy 'Murica day, everyone!

^ I got a tool kit of course, no flat tire can stop me!

I have some cash, and the financial backing of my paternal figure should things go awry. Plus my gf has plenty.

While big expensive and cushioned trips are nice, I'm more one to just do with the bare minimum supplies and kit, and see where the road takes me.

Must be nice to be able to sponge off mommy & daddy. Glad the gal's loaded, too. I'm sure she's looking forward to supporting you.

-.- I have cash for the trip, if something happens and I need a new tire or some shit I'll have my dad help, and pay him back. It's like a credit card except without the interest and a mega-corporation breathing down my neck.

Without the interest and collectors breathing down your neck, it's not like a credit card. It's more like having mommy and daddy solve all of life's little problems for you.

How old are you?

-.- Not that it matters, but I'm going on 20 this month. I'd rather not deal with bureaucracy if there are better alternatives for the time being. Jesus Christ, you'd think I was robbing Seven-11's or falsifying welfare paperwork. I'm taking a trip. I will work for any gas money that anyone would be giving me (washing windshields or doing chores) and I have everything else covered.

Think it's just my generation? You're telling me some of the Woodstock generation on their old bikes didn't travel around the country on pennies, making what they could and doing without the rest?

When I want philosophy I'll ask for it, but the OP was to let people know where I'd be and that any help would be gratefully accepted.

No, the original post was asking forum members for money, lodging, and equipment. You never suggested that you were willing to work to earn any help.

Let me if you want to meet up/help out with gas money, a crash pad, and/or needed equipment.
If you don't want to get chastised for sponging off people, then don't try to sponge off people, which is exactly what your first post was doing.

No, I don't think it's just your generation. But it's the responsibility of my generation to help your generation learn to be responsible. So far we seem to be failing miserably at it.

So you're 20. Do you have a job?

ha ha. this is hilarious...
if anyone from the ''woodstock generation'' got on here asking for money to see their gf they would be getting the same treatment...

and as for gratefully accepting any help... well everyone who has replied so far has been trying to help you, but youre just being a wise ass...

I wish I knew what started that whole thing. ^ Seems like the kid in the video deserved whatever beating was coming his way.

Anyways, OP, your trip sounds like fun. The begging for money sounds pathetic. It reminds me of the moron who came on here asking for donations so he can buy a Daytona. There were all kinds of promises about what he would allow you to do and how he would take your input on modding his new-to-him and free Daytona. It's disgusting, pathetic, and quite sad. Have your folks give you money next time, instead of coming here and asking for charity.

Did you honestly think that people on here would be willing to send you money so you can ride up a highway to go see your girlfriend? Here's a thought, if she wants to see you that bad, she can help you out. Get a job and take responsibility for your own actions.

Y'know, just the other day I was out for a ride when I stopped for a light at an intersection. There was a group of high school age guys asking for donations for their football team, holding out football helmets for people to donate.

You would think that a bunch of young, healthy, husky football players who need to raise some money could wash cars, mow lawns, chop wood, paint houses, clear land, haul trash, pick fruit, lifeguard, change oil, sweep floors, wash dishes, clean pools, etc., etc., rather than begging for a handout.

I will (and do) happily help those who can't help themselves, but people who are able to work but choose to beg instead can pound sand.

Trip is going great so far. Turns out I get better gas mileage than I thought so my paycheck has gas covered. I've been using a tent which has been nice. My O.P said if you would like to help that would be nice, but I was not begging, and the message was only for those who live along my route in Utah. You think I'd ask someone in South Carolina to wire me 40 bucks? On that note, Nobody has paid for anything except me, and hell, even some friendly locals have offered me food and lodging without me even bringing it up.

My jacket zipper broke and my front tire is on it's death bed, but otherwise the people on this forum could learn a thing or two about friendliness from the folks I've met here.

To try and steer away from the negaticity, will Dainese fix my zipper if I send it in to them? Yes I realize there's probably a cost.
