Keyless ignition

Hi guys,

could somebody please PM me with instructions for keyless ignition? It's been here several times, but the threads are dead. I have a 2012 Daytona R track only bike.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I prefer getting rid of wires :)
That does get rid of wires... the whole ignition assembly...
OK, it is cool, but it seems to be not easy to get here in Europe. I would rather do it the cut-solder way with an additional on/off switch on the left side.
Yep, forget about the woodcraft loom its just replacing wires with more wires without the key barrel. Not sure if the harnesses are the same as i've done it on my 08 model.

1 - Remove the key barrel
2 - Unplug from main harness
3 - Carefully extract all wires from the plug on the end of the key barrel except for 2 wires (I will PM you the colors)
4 - Cut the two wire back close to the plug leaving enough length to connect the two with a crimp connector or solder and heat shrink
4 - Bridge the two remaining wires
5 - Plug back into main harness

I did it this way so that the mod was 100% reversible without having to hack into the main harness. Also this way removes everything and there is no need for the woodcraft harness.

Does that solution use the killswitch for off/on?

Yes. It can be however you want it. You could simply bridge the wires at the harness plug or run them via a secondary switch.
Yes, if you just bridge the wires, RH switch works as ON/OFF. I used an additional switch on the left side to replace the key function... and threw the key away.
Now it looks quite neat :)

Would this same procedure work for a 14 model year? If so, can you PM me the details. Thanks!

Sorry to necro post, but would you be wiling to share the wire combo?

I assume the 2 you leave connected to the ignition switch are for the parking light? I would still use the key for that/steering lock

Huh? Did you read the thread? This is for track bikes only. You remove the key barrel which means no steering lock or parking light.

Yes I did read the thread, and the comment by LG leaves 2 wires connected to the key barrel switch.

I don't understand what it is you're trying to achieve? The title of the thread is keyless ignition. It's a mod performed by people with dedicated track bikes who want to remove the hassle of forgetting the key at home and/or remove excess wiring clutter.

To be able to not need a key for the ignition. For security I am no opposed to still having the steering lock 🙂

Hi, would you be able to PM me the wiring diagram (colors) so i can perform this on my track bike? Thank you!
