im wondering why we have to unplug the fuse for the headlights when using tuneECU. is it to prevent the battery from draining while we mess around on the laptop? or does the battery need the extra charge to use tuneECU?

what if we just unplug the headlights? that seems a lot easier..

what I got from searching around is that it has to do with keeping the battery voltage up. It says on tamhamburg.net that if the battery falls below 12v the tunes don't take and such. headlights take a lot of juice to run
u don't need to unplug the headlight fuse if u don't want to, but u can if u like? I have my headlights disconnected off always, as I see no point having them on during the day waste of power... unless I'm riding during the night.

Just disconnect the headlights connectors and charge your bike and u will be fine, I did this with tuneECU when i did my arrow exhaust, and looking at the program power the battery % did not go down even when my bike was running for 20mins..

For cereal! I must be doinit wrong. :screwy:

u do know i am talking about the main headlights? the one that turns on when u start the bike.. it's just a waste of power during the day for me, I know having them on is safe for oncoming cars to see, but I only ride my daytona ever only on sunny days, never at night. My other bikes headlights r on as I use them for going out at night, everything. It's only my Daytona 675 that it's off.

a lot of people ask stupid questions and say, "your headlights our on??" "why r the headlights on, it's daytime??"
I can't be bothered explain it to them... it's for safe factory so people can see u more..
You dont have to but it is to help keep the battery from going dead, I rarely ever did it when I had stock headlights, now that I have HID bulbs I usually pull it just to be safe. Other than that it serves no purpose.

Also Vette every post you make, really makes me wonder why you ride man. Firstly a headlight can surprisingly save your life, that is why you are seeing a lot of cars come with what are called daylight running lights, but whatever dude good luck in your adventures of nonsense.

yeah, I always get people asking me why I wear a helmet and leather gear. I guess I shouldn't wear any so people quit asking me.

Did u not read my post? i KNOW why its suppose to be on... that's what I said in the post..

If your comment is suppose to be sarcastic, I guess u did not read my post?? I know headlights r important, but tell me this, if I ride my Daytona ONLY sunny days for only 2 hours, why should I have my headlights on?? it's a waste of bulb and power.. if anyone can tell me why I would have them on when riding ONLY around my area for 2 hours please tell me, my LED lights r on that oks with me. I just don't see why I need my main headlights on during a sunny day when I know I'm not going to ride at night.

Helmet is different, I always wear my helmet.
Id rather waste a bulb and whatever power its wasting then take the chance of someone not seeing me, for someone that wastes so much money on shit for his bike you really need to look at the common sense stuff.

I truly just need to stop reading your posts because they just keep amazing me more and more.

Also yes I read your post, but you never know. And for the people asking, is your time really that important that you cant explain it? lol but whatever I could care less what you do with your stuff, it's your money not mine and it is your life not mine, good luck.

well I never had problems with my headlights off riding my D675 only, but I rarely ride my D675, and when I do I only take it out only very hot sunny days, clear skys, that's why I don't have my headlight on, but i do get your point, and I understand why I should have it on, like what u said.. but I'm happy with them off.

I don't waste money at all when buying things for my bikes, as it's one of my personal hobbies I enjoy.

You're an idiot!

It's safer!!!...that's why!!!

Common sense really isn't that common. It should be called uncommon sense!

lol, not an idiot, it's my choice that's why!!
even if I don't have my main headlights on during the day, anyone can see me a mile away due to my colourful shoei helmet, plus my bike being red not black/white, it makes it more easy to see during the day.

Keep telling yourself this retarded bull, but in the end you are just asking for it. What is one headlight, it is not going to drain your battery that much or rob you of any power. It is not hurting you to have it on and it could save your life, but again as Far has said you are border line idiot.
I'm not the idiot one... I was only answering a question the guy who posted about the fuse regarding tuneECU, than people like far camel and others had to comment on my post, it's just stupid, if I don't have my headlights on.. so what!!? I already answer why I don't like to have it on.. why can't I? it's funny how many people take it too serious when someone post comments, in the end, it's your bike, your choice what makes u happy!
Your in Aus aren't you Vette? Well If you are it's illegal to have a bike without the headlights on in all states. Massive fine and points....so good luck. Apart from that power is free while the engine is running, not wasting anything. Many times on sunny days on country roads the glare can obscure oncoming traffic, a headlight can make all the difference.

LOL!!!!

It blows my mind that someone would actually remove their headlight fuse and think it's in any way worth it when it comes to saving power. That's more worthless and pointless than unplugging a microwave while your not using it.

Even if you do only ride it on the clearest and sunniest of days, the extremely small safety factor that you lose still MASSIVELY outweighs any benefit you get otherwise from not having that light on.

What a character....
i ride with headlights off at night when i need to be in stealth mode
