Okay so I am doing a coolant flush right meow. Drained everything from plug underneath and siphoned out everything in reservoir. Filled radiator and reservoir with distilled water. Let her run til the fan came on. Gave her a few minutes to cool. Popped the plug off to drain the water but it is coming out suuuuper slow and sporadic compared to the first time and it's this nasty brown color. Is it normal for it to come out this slow? Thinking I'm gonna have to do a second rinse...

Nasty brown color is what catches my attention....

I've run into this before. It turns out my water pump was failing. It was shedding a fine powder that turned the water brown. The dealership thought it was the hoses disintegrating. It's been doing this for about a year. It finally failed last weekend at a race.

Hell I do 5 rinses when I do a flush, just to be 100% sure I get everything out LOL, don't forget to open the bleeder screw on the right side of the radiator as well!

Did you flush with a little bit of vinegar?

I did two coolant flushes with water only as I didn't have any vinegar. But yes I followed the how-to but didn't see anything about a bleeder screw?....Did I miss something? I do worry about air bubbles since my bike usually runs super hot at low speeds. I am kinda interested in taking your comment about taking the whole system apart and cleaning it though, TWW. Sounds like a very good idea! I also changed my spark plugs too and oh boy I can feel the difference. :)

Bleeder screw is on top of the throttle side of the rad. What plugs did you use?

Ahhh so I opened up that bleeder screw and filled the rad til it came out of there and also burped the lines. Had a bunch of air in the top hose by the tank. Hopefully bike will run cooler now. :) and I can't remember the kind I think it was nse or nsx or something. They are the iridescent kind. My friend got them for me for free.

Yeah same here, definitely idles a lot smoother.

But I took it all apart because that stock shit is nasty booger looking shit.

Also glad my How To is helping someone haha

Holy crap!!!! Just thought I'd add that I commonly see 7,8 even 9 bars riding through town in the summer heat and the past two days I haven't even gotten past 6. Even in stop and go traffic. :):):):) so happy right now. I used engine ice.

FastCat675,
Sounds like you were way overdue for a flush. There's a couple threads scattered on the forum about the casting sand being left in some D675's, your bike might have been a part of that and it may never have been fully flushed out. Regardless, sounds like you are good to go now.

Yes it did. I bought a .5gal and didn't quite fit the whole thing in there. Got to my bfs and checked the forums and realized she should have taken .68. I messed up by not using the bleeder screw or burping the lines so I did that and she took a lot more coolant.

So the previous owner of my bike said he flushed the system out with tap water... Drained it... But couldn't drain the reservoir (about half left) and then filled the radiation and rest of reservoir with Peak antifreeze and coolant (not sure if its 50/50 or not. But isn't tap bad? Or would the antifreeze kind of even it out?

Yes he sounds like he may not know what he was doing, he should have used distilled water, and I do not think that 50/50 is good on the bike, but could be wrong. I would flush the system, run some distilled through it and then get a coolant made for motorcycles.
