Canada has long been excessively politically correct but we've now hit a new low. The CBSC (Canadian Broadcast Standards Council) has banned Money for Nothing from being played on Canadian airwaves due to the reference to ****** in the lyrics. :stupid:

Here is the article. Needless to say 99.9% of the Canadian public disagree with this ruling. For the record, B!tch, N!gger and other derogatory words don't seem to be a problem... Good thing we have great beer to drink.

OTTAWA - The 1980s song "Money for Nothing" by the British rock band Dire Straits has been deemed unacceptable for play on Canadian radio. In a ruling released Wednesday, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council says the song contravenes the human rights clauses of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Code of Ethics and Equitable Portrayal Code.
A listener to radio station CHOZ-FM in St. John's, N.L., complained last year that the song includes the word "******" in its lyrics and is discriminatory to gays.
The broadcaster argued that the song had been played countless times since its release decades ago and has won music industry awards.
A CBSC panel concluded that the word "******," even if once acceptable, has evolved to become unacceptable in most circumstances.
The panel noted that "Money for Nothing" would be acceptable for broadcast if suitably edited.

Hmmmm, and here i was telling people that because Australia is becoming far too politically correct i was going to up and move to Canada because they seem so much more relaxed and cool...guess i was wrong!

There is an edited version of that song that plays on Aussie radio which cuts out the whole verse with "******" in it which will probably make its way to Canada's airwaves shortly.

What a joke though, a song released 25 years ago has only now offended someone...swallow a teaspoon of cement and harden the f**k up

God this is ridiculous. The world is becoming a prissy place filled with ***** attitudes in my opinion.

It's okay for kids to grow up playing a computer game 24 hours a day instead of actually going outside and playing but hearing the word '******' on the radio is unacceptable? Please......
