Can you please tell me where the relay would be located?

It's down low and forward, behind the left hand side fairing.

It sounds like the reg/rec and perhaps even the stator are fried. Probably due to the melted connector.
Do some tests...

The front brake switch is on the front brake lever. Follow the wiring.
