Comp Werkes LowBoy on a Daytona thoughts and pic

It finally came and wow, what a trick piece of kit the comp werkes pipe is - beautifully made, pretty light weight for stainless, and imo, looks badass!

Install was pretty straightforward, but took almost 5 hours. Part of this was rewiring the rear lights and still not sure I've figured that out. Anyone know how the wiring goes for the rear turn signals if you cut the adaptors and just go with wires to aftermarket signal wires?

Cutting the stock exhaust is very quick if you use a sawsall - took maybe 5 minutes. I was able to use the bracket it comes with to hang it off my rearset, just took some creative bending.

What takes longest is carving the plastics and making it look nice. Still need to paint where I cut, but overall very happy with it.

The stock exhaust, is sooo heavy, and all that weight is so high up, that the bike does feel lighter - turn in was already ridiculous, now it's ridiculouser.

It is LOUD! Too loud I think. Gonna have to get the baffle. It sounds like an F1 race car. It's stupid fun.

Feels like I lost a little power at very low rpms - like just when getting started. But maybe gained a little way up top. Stock map. It has a sexy popping on decel, but the popping is not loud

As for the undertail, I'm leaving it bare - it looks empty, light and has a perfect spot for mounting the plate. Looks very race oriented.

l like it! But I may be a little biased... I run the comp werks low boy on my striple.

I found that if you run the baffle with the little loop at the end cut off (you'll know what I mean when you see the baffle), the pipe sounds just like it does without the baffle but at a much more reasonable db. Without the loop cut off the baffle makes the bike sounds a little tinny imo.

Thanks and thanks for the tip - I'll be getting the baffle in a few weeks.

Perhaps its heat exhaustion from that underseat exhaust?

Or overexertion from hefting all that extra weight around?

:rofl2:
I like it! Makes me wish I had ordered the standard metal color instead of the velvet black. Good to know about the baffle too. Thanks

yeah, those welds are so pretty, I had to go naked.

uh no, the majority of the heat is radiated from the engine. Im sure the reduces it slightly but if you are stuck in traffic, the daytona will still roast le balls.

yeah soooo much extra weight. im sure the OPs lines will be tightening up sooooo much now.
I've always liked the looks of the CW pipes, but the low boy on the Daytona makes the tail look kinda empty.

daytona tails are too freak'n long as it is. That's the only peev I have with them, and all the aftermarket exhausts stick out even farther. always bugged me. just a personal pref though. The sexy headlights and front end make up for it. :)

I challenge you OP to cut some of the tail off now that you got a shorty. =P

Had to go with black velvet over those sexy welds because of my gold wheels...didn't think they'd look good together. :(

Sounds pretty mean in that video! Can't wait for mine.
I think it looks pretty good, never been a fan of the stainless CW though.

And this does leave something to be desired from the tail, you can't just leave it like that
I agree with the tail comment. This bike has an unusually big tail. Triumph definitely designed it with the thought process of the exhaust pipe exiting there. The exhaust sounds great through. The side fairing was cut well too. Awesome execution gust never been a fan of the d675 with a side exit exhaust.

Well, I have been doing alot of listening to these pipes and trying to buy on a budget as my new (472 miles) is my first NEW bike and I'm 48...

So, buying pipes is a budget process... I like the low boy Werkes, but the sound of it on the recordings is just too much like a straight pipe... sounds to raucious for a street bike.

The DanMoto is my second and while it's an undertail..., they are the most simplest and smallest and good looking and the recordings I have heard are pretty good, except for a few folks on this forum not liking them at all.

The werkes with the baffle was not a big hit around the forum either (I know it's not the gospel or anything), just trying to make the best CHEAP choice for now.

Did paint my heat shields black with the rubber paint today and they look good... great idea by someone here on the forum; breaks up all the shiny stuff!!!

You mean the loopy part pointing to 1 o'clock?

Seems we had the same idea :D
Where is that mounting tab connected to? I used a different can than you, mine is all 1 piece. The slip on was welded to the mid pipe.

My terrible wrapping job....ceramic coating soon

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and what they like:

with that said, i am a huge fan of the under tail exhaust, one of the reasons i really love the D675.

What you guys have done is a really nice job on keeping the D675 looking good. I am not a fan of the LowBoy exhaust, but commend you guys on making is look good on the D675!!!!

I've seen some really awkward looking LowBoys that just make the bike look terrible......

Good Work Gents!!

I'm not a big fan myself, maybe if it was black.
