I have had my 2006 Daytona for a year or so now and initially thought I was too old (and too soft) for this track focused machine. I replaced the rear spring which has made the bike much better on our rough roads here in NSW but need to do something about the seat too as long rides are still painful.. I've been told that the Triumph after market seat is better but not great. My mate has a 2009 seat but I'm unsure if it will fit my 2006? My research seems to bring up saddleman seats for >2008 models but I'm not really able to find a 2006-2008 version. Any help on this much appreciated. I'm considering contacting upholstery places to see if they can modify my existing seat..

As far as I'm aware, 06-12 seats are interchangeable, ie anything pre 2013 when the new shape was launched.

I found the Triumph gel seat was improvement over stock. I also found what pants I wore made a huge difference - my butt got sore in jeans but I had no problems in leathers...

Another option is getting your local upholsterer to recover it. I've got a dirt bike style vinyl covering on mine, as compared to the OEM cover which usually ends up so slick that your balls slap the tank every time you tap the brakes!!

I have an 08 and bought my saddlemen seat from tj from riders discount. The seat is good but not sure if it is worth the $300. I'm pretty sure my was listed as an 09 model. The only thing I did was fit some foam to the front hook of the seat as it was a little loose.

I had a Triumph gel seat on my last bike. Definitely better than stock. Looking at options for my new '16 bike arriving tomorrow. The Saddleman look great, but I'm also not sure about the value for $...

I did the same for my 2012 675R and bought a second hand Gel seat from ebay. What I saved there I used for a new LuiMoto seat cover (which took two goes to get right - It's all a matter of finding the right trades person) and ended up with a "better than new" gel seat. very comfy and looks good too (well, that's always a matter of opinion!)

good luck :)
