Hey forum,
I just bought my first triumph two weeks ago, a 2006 Daytona 675. Traded a 2007 GSXR-1000 for it. It's my 6th bike, and by far the best I've ever ridden. Anyways, my friend who already has a daytona told me about this forum so here's my first question.
I, like many others here dislike the one off one on headlight setup. I've done quite a bit of reading on this forum and other sites to see what others do about the issue. I am not very interested in the high-beam dimmer you can buy, or make yourself.
Rather, I was wondering what it would take to be able to put another H7 bulb in the highbeam spot. I'm assuming if I were able to do this both headlamps would be lowbeams and look the same.
I know I won't have a highbeam, and this does not bother me.. I'd rather have two lows.

The device made by EclipsTech allows you to adjust your high beam to a level exactly like your low beam and then just hit the headlight switch and you have your high beam back when you need it, seems like a no brainer to me.

I am familiar with the kit you're talking about... Correct me if I'm wrong, but the dimmed high beam will still have the same projection spread as before, just dimmer... I want the highbeam to flicker the same way as the low does when I go over bumps or accelerate. Thats how the new R1's look, and it's really cool. If I have a dimmed down highbeam with that kit, it won't flicker the same way, even if it does look to have the same brightness.

I looked into this a few months ago for HIDs and the only thing I found is you cannot do it with HIDs or you can use the dimmer. I would still like to get both lights set to low beams, I don't ever use my high beam

I would suspect to accomplish this the projector would have to be replaced along with the corresponding bulb. Since Nemain675 just took my housing apart for the headlight painting I can tell you this is not the easiest of projects, but possible. I don't remember what the difference between high and low is, but I do believe you can change the high. I'd hit him up and ask him.

I don't think so. I would say at a minimum that the reflector needs changed because I don't think it will accept the low beam bulb. Again, NeMain675 would be the one to ask since he hopefully paid more attention to it than I did when he had mine apart.

Yes but you'd need to do considerable modding to the rear of the projector housing on the high beam side. You would have to use a dremel to rework the adapter to hold the H7 bulb then reform the plastic to compensate for the 'holes' where the high beam bulb fit, run a new retaining spring, and splice into the low beam wiring to run both lamps at the same time....did I loose you? :smilielol5:

The difference between the two projector housings is the adapter ring at the back, obviously one holds an H7 bulb the other doesn't. Finding a rashed headlamp and using it to salvage the secondary low beam projector would be ideal.

What about the shade inside the lowbeam that produces the distinct "lowbeam cutoff"? It's easy to see when you're right next to the bike and the lights are on. Is there one in the highbeam as well, or should I be looking for a junked headlamp to get a 2nd lowbeam?
The dremel idea is all well and good, but I'd rather just put a H11 bulb in place of the high H9. You only have to make a couple small modifications to the H11 for it to fit perfectly in place. It's a 55 watt bulb with very similar light characteristics to the H7. Check out this page to see for yourself...

The two projectors are essentally the same, I messed up ad put the h.b projector on the l.b housing the first time and the only difference I could see (while in the dark) was the 'pattern' the l.b makes (looks like a armored chest plate, IMO) was a little less defined. Same pattern, same cut-off. Honestly the only way your going to get EXACTLY the effect you are going for is to get a second low beam projector and housing (one piece). Changing the H9 to an H11 will give a similar effect but the lighing characteristics between a H11 and H7 are enough so that the two patterns will not be just right. It's your call and your mod though, so do what you think will work best for you!:nod:

I usually just run with my highbeam on, it would be nice to mod it...but sounds like more trouble than it's worth. Without installing HID's..can I just put brighter bulbs in without a problem?

The highbeam has a different pattern. I ran with it on before installing the HID low beam. With a 50 watt race setup I don't feel the need to run the high beam all the time now.
