Hi all

I recently bought a Yuasa YT7B-BS for my 09 Daytona. This is what is specified in the manual, and advised by a local mechanic. However, I have been reading that it appears that the spec was revised to another model, the YTX9-BS? So firstly the YT7B is small for the tray, so my question is what type of material would be recommended to use as filler to make the battery fitting more snug. And secondly, can somebody please clarify whether the YT7B is ok to use for the bike performance wise in the long run?

Any tips are well appreciated.

I would use some closed cell foam, like the stuff used for exercise mats.

The bike has a volt sensor that will not allow the bike to start if the battery is too low. With a smaller battery there is more of a chance that sensor will be triggered and the bike not start. So do your best to keep it charged - if you're not using the bike all the time keep it on a trickle charger. Otherwise there's no problem at all using that battery. They don't last forever anyway, so I say use what you have and just get a bigger battery next time.
