Hi - I have a 08 street triple that I picked up as a stolen - recovery bike. It was hot wired and now there is no ignition or key holes for anything. Looking on ebay there are some ignition sets but some are from a street triple R. My local dealer said that I'd need to know the VIN of the donor ignition to see if it would work on my bike? So looking for second a opinion, can the R series ignition work for a regular street triple of the same year?
Thanks!

The R of any given year did not have a different ignition vs. the non R, that would make no sense since the yoke that holds it and the main wiring harness it plugs into are the same. And 08s don't have immobilizers so it's an easy install.

Just look up pics on eBay (or dealer schematics online) for the ignition for your bike, then look at pics of the R ignition. They will be the same.

Triumph doesn't make a zillion different ignitions as that would be expensive and pointless.

I just recently replaced the ignition on a '16 Thruxton R with one from a '22 Trident. They're exactly the same except for the little ring with the writing on it, the orientation is such that on the Thruxton it's upside down.
