***How To: Post Pictures***

Here by popular demand, I present to you...our first attempt at a picture posting "How To". I hope this thread will serve beneficial to most...enjoy! :P

Directly from our "Forum FAQ": https://www.triumph675.net/phpBB2/faq.php#24

Can I post Images?
Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. Therefore you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor to images stored behind authentication mechanisms such as Hotmail or Yahoo mailboxes, password-protected sites, etc. To display the image use either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed).
For me, the easiest way I found was to use a free hosting site. My personal choice is www.photobucket.com, but others use such sites as http://www.imageshack.us/, http://www.fotki.com/, or others...

PhotoBucket for example, once you have uploaded your pictures, actually gives you the link with the [img][/img] tag already there...so you can conveniently copy it, and paste it into the post of your choice. :P

It will end up looking something like (without the spaces): [img] http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif [/img]

It's THAT easy!

If anybody has anything else to add...please feel free to chime in. Thanks. 8)

Creating an album
1. Click Create / Order my Albums
2. Click the 'New Album' button, then type the name you want over 'New Album' (at bottom)
3. Then click 'Apply Modifications' and click the 'ok' popup
4. then click 'continue' on the next screen (don't ask me why they designed it that way!)

Putting photos into albums
1. Click the 'Upload file' link in the upper right of the screen
2. on the next screen you can select up to 5 files and/or 3 link locations to get pics from, fill them in and click 'Continue'
3. Click 'Continue' again...
4. select the album you're putting the pics in from the 'picklist'
5. type in the file name (description) and a longer description if you want, you can also add keywords so that people will find the pic if they're searching, e.g. swingarm, brake caliper, etc. This is a cool feature, as the database grows
6. click 'Continue' again
7. " " to get to the home page, or any of the links. You're done

Posting pics in a forum topic
Just copy the pic's address (url) by right-clicking it, choosing 'Properties', highlighting the URL and doing Ctrl-C.
Use the img tags when posting, and paste the URL in between them.
You're done

My pleasure bud, but for your sake...I hope your other "first times" were a bit more exciting/memorable.

Personally, I don't like it when you guys use photobucket, myspace etc... I check the site sometimes from work, and those sites are blocked. So, when you post a picture of your latest mod etc all I see is a little box with a red X in it. Then I have to wait till I get home to check out the message again.

I upload the pictures to this site to my photo album. You have a link at the top of the page that says "photos". Once you upload the picture you want in a post into your personal photo album on this site, then you can just link the picture the same way you would one hosted on photobucket.

my 2 cents

I noticed there is a 1 meg limit to the photo albums. Any way to change that? I hit the limit while trying to upload a pic about loading the Jardine PC3 map.

Another option...

I own/operate the free image hosting website www.pixpipeline.com ... feel free to use it and give me feedback/suggestions!

hello, there is attachment/ paperclip now on the top of each post. so, most folks already know this but, I wasn't sure about using it when I first started posting. simple and it auto resizes for you.

ok, buuuuttt! how do you edit, update or remove your post and/or picture(s) in the event of spelling, retractions, clarification and wrong/bad uploaded images.
fyi, These search engines never seem to work for me either so, if I missed it(searched) somewhere... just point me/others in the right direction.
Thanks!!
**edit**
Ok, I'm slowly figuring out how to do this stuff... check the Lil box in top right corner of a post and other options show at top. sorry, I'm Old and Slow!
