I recently installed a racetorx shift support after hearing nothing but good things about how much more precise and clean up shifts are. I honestly haven't noticed any difference, just wondering what others have experienced with this mod...
It makes the biggest difference with race shift stars and older bikes with wear on them. It takes some load off the worn parts. With a race shift pattern and or a rear set with an adjustable travel you can put a lot of load on the shift shaft. However Triumph unlike other brands has had the good sense to put a proper roller bearing on each end the shaft so the benefit may not be noticeable in most situations. If anything it's nice piece of protection in case of a crash it could prevent snapping the shift shaft.
My bike had the shift shaft replaced under warranty after only 2000 street miles. No issues since installing a Sato holder in the past 3000 race miles.
Pretty much same for me. Original shift shaft failed and was having trouble downshifting within the first couple thousand miles. Had it replaced under warranty, and also switched to a race shift star and added the Sato brace and adjustable rear sets, no issues 4000 miles later.
