I was looking at Attack Peformance setup numbers for Danny Eslick's bike and noticed they were running the rear wheel forward in the adjustment range. I assumed they were doing this (along with particular counter sprocket and final gear) to get a swing arm angle that best promotes wheelie control.

IIRC, that setup (for a track like Laguna Seca) was swingarm length of 582mm and gearing of 14/44 and a 114 link chain.

I dont have the numbers written down as it was done on a rig at a shop. Dont compare eslicks bike to ours, they were not running stock triples. If you are running triples with better numbers then you have the flexibility to move the rear around as you please. I run a stock class bike so I can only adjust what I have, moving the rear backwards stabilizes the bike by making it longer. I run 16/48 personally, that seems to fit really well at all the tracks I run on the east coast. With stock triples, making the bike longer does require a bit more muscle to get it to go through a chicane but overall I find the bike is easier to ride fast as it just feels more stable. As a stock class bike, I dont find the front lifting in an uncontrolled fashion. If I do need to bring it down I drag the rear brake a touch and thats all it needs. When you really start poking the engine with a stick I could see that mattering a bit more. For even more context I launch the bike at 8k, with a fast but smooth release the front will lift a few inches and hold until I get to the top of 2nd gear and Im usually always getting one of the best starts on the grid.



I dont change geometry between tracks, im not fast enough for that. I do have different baselines for settings however. I stick to what works for me and leave it, as im no where near fast enough for these differences to matter as long as I have a bike im 100% confident on at this level its 100% the rider not the bike. There are dudes out there running clapped out shit boxes and winning on them. I've given this setup advice to a few riders now and they all come back with the same statements on how it rides. If you can run the AP adjustable triples then you can go in an entirely different direction that will 100% be better.

Excellent comments and advice. I failed to note, Iím running AP triples and linear link.

Iíll start logging changes to my swingarm length and the resulting changes to handling. This seems to be one area of chassis setup that I havenít seen a lot of discussion about here.

Because for most people it doesn't matter. Since you can't use 1/2 of a chain link, it's tricky to get the axle where you want it and have proper chain slack.
