So, what do you think of the tire on standard vs alternate configuration at SMRI? I think that in the alt config its easier to slide the rear in turn1 and turn2 (especially turn2 as it is off camber and super hard to hit just right.) Interesting to think of how hard one could push a DOT tire on a short course like SMRI, and how it could compare to a race slick.

This still the best all-round tyre for street + track? Hows the wear in on these for street use compared to the Q3?

I've gone through about 4 pairs of Q3's and after a riding gap am due for some new tyres and saw the Q3+ and Q4's.

Q4's look great, but aside from 5-6 trackdays a year, i mostly commute short distances rain hail or shine and the Q4's look too extreme for that... TBH Q3's wore out faster than i'd like.

I ran Q3+ but now I'm a big fan of the Battleax S22's. 3 separate compounds on the rear make them last much longer on the street, but gives a nice half inch on the edges of super soft tire to really rail the corners on. Not to mention they are super cheap. In comparison the S22 lasts longer than the Q3+, gives better traction in cold/wet without sacrificing grip in good conditions, and the feedback is more confidence inspiring. Like OP found most Dunlops, I've felt the Q3+ was great up until it wasn't.
