Technical Question about handlebar end caps.

Hi,

I am making bar end weights for the Street Triple line and sometimes I use the online parts microfiche as a reference. I have found a discrepancy with one site saying all the Street Triples from '07 to '14 use a 6mm bolt to hold the handlebar end cap in place. Another site is saying they use a 5mm bolt.

Does anybody here know the real answer? Thanks in advance for your help.

Not sure St, but if it's same as daytona, it oughta be m5x.8 I think.

I bought some OEM end caps and they appear to be bored for a 6mm bolt.

The speed triple I believe is a 5mm.

It's all very confusing. I've never had this issue with other makes.

I may have to buy one of each bike. In my dreams maybe

Heheh. Bikebandit says m5x.8 too. The clearance hole may just be for a free fit. Say, I have always wanted to try your products. Any forum discounts?

Your best bet is to find a handlebar with a higher rise.....if you already have a 2" riser bar, I think you can still find a bar with more height. Check out Azonic and FireEye.

I have an 08. I'll check when I get home. Pretty sure it's 5mm.

I believe the regular Street Triples and the Street Triple R's use different bolts. My 2013 street triple R is threaded for M6x1.0. I recently purchased some Rhino Moto bar ends and only afterwards noticed they were only for non-R versions. The bolt was an M5

Confirmed. Bolt is 5mm. Here's a shot of the insert:

I noticed the Triumph OEM bar end mirrors appear to have replaceable inserts that could be changed out for bikes accepting 5mm or 6mm bolts.

The insert also has two diameters. One fits on the inside of the bar and is 5mm long measuring off the larger "shoulder" and 13.5mm in diameter. The "shoulder" is 21.75mm in diameter and is 2.5mm off the mirror arm. Might be useful in getting a bar end that fits.

@beatle I'm assuming yours is the standard Street Triple, correct? I'll confirm again that my Street Triple R uses M6 bolts

Also, what the hell happened to the inside of your bar end adapter?!

Correct, it's just a standard streety.

I'm not sure. I'm wondering if loctite was used on the adapter itself for some reason. Fortunately the mirrors were easy to remove. Now I just need some real bar ends. You'll have the market cornered as nobody seems to make them.
