Remove passenger pegs for track days?
I was using an older ZX6R for track day duty but I’m having some trouble with it. Next summer I’m going have my 13 Daytona take over permanent track day duties. Tonight I removed the passenger foot pegs Because I certainly don’t need them. After their removal and admiring the cleaner look, I suddenly thought maybe this is a bad idea. So, does anyone think the passenger pegs might be better left on as a possible contact point if I were to drop the bike on the track? Or is that unrealistic?

I would imagine if you low-side, the rider pegs will prevent the rear section from contacting the ground.

I took my rear pegs off and have been happy with them off, although I'm still looking for block off plates.
They were functional as tie down points in the trailer, but no longer needed due to using TRS.
I thought about leaving them in case of a fall, but IMO they wouldn't stop the tail from coming into contact with the ground during a low slide at the track (I could see them being protected from a drop).
The counter point to them acting as protection during a call, is that they might act as an anchor or grip against something which could help send the bike flying rather than staying in a slide.
