Haha... not really. Back in the day, it was pretty hard to compete against the Japanese bikes, so they created a race series for other bikes. Plus a bit of the other suggestion... it tends to be an older, more genteel crowd. The racing is competitive, but nobody's intentionally bashing fairings; discretion wins over valour, and if mistakes are made, beers are bought.

Playing in the deep end of the gene pool probably wasn't such a bad thing either, was it?

the worst is one of those ego-driven riders who pin on the straights and brake until they come almost to a standstill before the corner

I know some fast ducati riders. I think the guy he's talking about would be "newbies on liter bikes" Honestly, I wish track days would implement displacemwent limits based on skill levels. Nobody gets on a liter bike until they hit X:XX lap times. Imagine the complete lack of traffic jams in that case.

Oh, I do as well, but they're almost always racers, as opposed to track-day-only riders.

One of the local tracks is horrible when riding with slow riders on literbikes. No transitions, just corner, straight, corner, straight... aaaargh.

Thunderhill is classic for that - this past weekend I dropped down into B group so I could go ride with my friends and just have a f-off day at the track. Ugh. Last time I'm doing that...B group is just - scary.

Almost gave a liter bike an enema on the front straight - dude wasn't afraid to twist the throttle but was apparently terrified of the corners as, WAY before the typical braking zone (even for B groupers) he damn near stops on the front straight when I'm WOT in 6th gear....thankfully I was planning on ducking under him going into the corner knowing he was going to go way slower, but I wasn't expecting him to park it THAT early - at least had time to react and scoot around him.

I see and expect plenty of that in B and C group, but that one was really bad....friends or no friends the frustration was more than I care to deal with in the future - and that's not even getting into the completely unpredictable lines and swooping riders!
