Im still trying to get used to my new 2014 675r race bike i picked up recently. Ive had 2 track days on it since I got it and I still feel like I am not that comfortable on it.

It doesn't have anywhere near as much front end feel as my old stock 04 GSXR 600 (which is surprising) and it also still seems to hook into corners very sharply.

I've had it set up professionally after the first track day and also got the front serviced and re-valved with the race tech gold valves. It also came with a Matris steering damper which is installed and set to the maximum setting (any less and it feels insanely light). Even after getting it looked at, it still feels light in the front and difficult to control.

The clip-ons that are on it are the extreme performance GP clip ons. I noticed that the angle they sit is a bit more aggressive than I had on the GSXR and the bar length is quite a bit different. About 5cm longer per bar with these clip ons.

My questions are

1. Anu suggestions on how I can get more front end feel back to the bike?
2. How much does the angle of the bars affect this?
3. How much does the length of the bars affect it?

If anyone has had experience with the extreme components parts, it would be good to hear

On my gen 1 bike, I have the forks pushed through (8mm gold showing from memory) and have added 3mm shim above the stock rear shock shim. I also run 180/60 rear tyre.

I had a friend suggest the bike was too nose down, so I set forks back to stock position (4mm gold showing??) and removed the extra shock shim. After that, the bike felt vague and pushed wide in corners and I could feel it sliding the front.
Needless to say, I went back to the above set up.

I also have my clip-ons dropped down with a 6mm gap between the top triple and the clipon bracket.

This on a gen 1 bike, so geometry is different, but that was my experience.

Thanks mate. Are you using a stock or aftermarket triple clamp? I am running the attack triple clamp but i need to get that looked at too as it wasnt lining up perfectly when it was put back together so not sure if the bottom clamp is bent and that is affecting it.

But the bars do seem very long so thats why I was wondering if the extra leverage from longer bars was throwing it off too.

I havent had any issues with it running wide at this point, in fact quite the opposite. A few times I have turned in more than expected at hit the ripple strip.

Stock triples.

Wider bars should give more leverage, like dirt bike bars would.
