Mine was also ungodly tight. I will leave mine where it's at.

damper issues

i am new to steering dampers and not sure what they should be like upon inspection. i have a 2009 daytona and noticed today that my steering damper moves from side to side if i wiggle it. this is without moving the steering. the bolt that is allowing it to move seems to be done up tight, is this normal? i dont want to take it apart to inspect if this is not neccessary.

Yep, that's how it's designed. It needs to move freely but there have been cases of it coming loose although it is fitted with plenty of Loctite from the factory. Try a search...

red or blue loctite would help with this

Yours may have Triple square bolts...see these alot on German cars
I bought a set from my Snap On dealer sizes range from 4 - 12
I'm sure you can find some cheaper sets out there

My 07 has torx bolts and a hex bolt that can be seen from the top attaching the shock....I can see the bolt moving with the shock about 1/4 inch is this normal? Going to bring tools home from work tomorrow to remove and loctite them and am going to start looking for an aftermarket replacement .... any suggestions? I'll update tomorrow on my findings..there is 10,562 miles on the bike and I would have remembered any service the dealer has done regarding this


And on the loctite, I use red loctite for alot of applications at work esp on the threads of inner tie rods ( where they screw into the steering rack ) and have never had to heat them upon removal ...granted it is a bit harder to remove
