Well, it appears it was the terminals. Checked them this morning, and there was a little play in them. Got about a half rotation from each screw and everything seems to be in working order after driving around for a bit.
Sorry for the novice mistake, seems obvious now. Thanks for the help everyone! I was somewhat panicked last night.
No worries. It's only obvious to those of us who experienced it. Could be worse; the last two times I stopped for a bike stranded on the side of the road all they needed was to have the fuel tap switched to reserve. And one needed to have the reserve thing explained. (I'd guess many people here have never had a bike with that
