augusta triumph oh and tally probably 15/47-48 the gear isnt just a function of speed in the straight, it also affects shift points track around the track and cornerspeed.

augusta triumph It really depends on you but I would probably start with a 15/45 and then hope to start taking off a rear a tooth here and there as you get faster.

willie32 I would also think that would be a fairly drastic change. Probably more than you are thinking...

Faster tracks and faster riders (who carry more corner speed) can get away with steeper gearing. For example, I believe Dustin Dominguez runs a 43 rear at TWS, which is considered to be a "fast track" around here. (longest straightaway in Texas)
I agree. I think you should be able to add a few teeth to get a little extra RPM before the corner. I think you would be really thrown off with a big tooth change .

///Matt You're talking about going -7 and +8 teeth. That's a pretty hefty change....

Gearing issues

I plan on racing my 06 675 in Wera's Southeast division in Little Talle and RD ATL. Can anyone give me a good starting point in regards to gear setup. I road at RD ATL last year and 3/4 down the back straight, I was hitting redline, I was thiking about lowering the rear gear to 40 teeth. Too much? And for Little Talle, I was thinking of raising it to 55 teeth. Any thought or suggestion are more than welcomed.
