|BigMeowski||Id say the RX all the way. You couldn't ask for better components or mileage. Even if you had issues w storage like gunk buildup in the fuel lines/pump it would still be worth it considering the little bit of labor that'd go with it. I got a 4 year old cbr600 years ago w about 500 miles and didn't check the gas tank. It had rust all over the inside and had ruined the fuel pump and tank. Was pretty easy and cheap to replace on that bike though. Be sure to open the tank and shine a light in there. If there's corrosion then that could be a negotiating item. Best of luck with the purchase.|
. I would go for the 2016 RX. It's more ready to go, with mods that you want.
700 miles is just fine. It hasn't even been broken in yet.
What sort of lien is on the 2017? That's normally a deal-breaker for me.
I can get you a QS for a good price, but there are other things to consider on that bike.
I'm leaning towards the RX. It's set up the way you want it and if the dude with the '17 isn't willing to change the tire or oil, I wonder what other maintenance items he's skipping.
I'd have storage concerns with a four-year-old, zero-mile bike, but ~200 miles per year at least should keep everything fresh. As long as it's been ridden more than 10 miles within the last few months, I wouldn't worry. Look inside the gas tank for rust and check the tires closely for cracks in the sidewall.
Buying Advice Needed
I used to own a 2010 Daytona 675 SE, sold it about 3.5 years ago...regretted it ever since. I decided this year its time to get back onto a 675, and I have found a few good options... Looking for some advise on what to look for issues on different bikes I will be looking at. Both bikes I am considering are the exact same price.
Bike 1) 2017 675 Street Triple R. 5k miles, lots of good quality upgrades. owners seems like a non-hooligan so it seems well maintained and treated well. I don't have any crazy concerns other than the owner says how much he loves it, but yet is selling it.... says he wants to get into a full sport bike. I would be third owner.
Arrow Exhaust & Evotech Tail Tidy
Already has 2 owners, Has passenger seat (which I would want to get rid of), more miles, no quick shifter, needs new tire right away. needs oil change before riding season.
Bike 2) 2016 Street Triple Rx, 700 miles on it... basically stock as RX and needs nothing. They did a general inspection and oil filter/oil service on it. It was made in sept 2016, but considered one owner after being a demo bike for a dealer. It needs nothing but the upgrades I would want for Exhaust, tail tidy etc... which I could obviously work on over time.
quick shifter, seat cowl, needs nothing (like rear tires), will have fun upgrading stuff myself.
only 700 miles over 3.3 years. This worries me... Obviously I will look at battery, look for corrosion (hinting at poor storage), but so far it seems like it was well kept, I am assuming heated and inside based on pictures.
Should I worry about the miles being so low?
What else should I look for?
Should I not worry at all?
I would honestly lean towards the 2017, but I don't want to pay the same money for a bike with 5k more miles that needs a oil change and new tires...The guy won't budge on price. Also, buying the 2016 is a much easier process as there isn't a lean on it.
Looking for some help in making sure I get the right one. thanks in advance for input.
