Muzz I have found a possible wear on wire situation that i assume would be common to all year model daytona's. the wiring loom underneath the fusebox/relays rests on the metal clip that secures the left hand fairing to the nose cone. this wore through my loom and stopped bike from running or starting after i put 40,000km on the bike, and It left me stranded in the middle of nowhere. It was easy to repair but tough to diagnose on the side of the road in fading light.

northof60 Don't worry about your English. Any info that can help is appreciated. I will be picking up a new bike soon and will check everything that I have read here so far. Keep posting.

Krash I overlooked his post, because I am pretty sure engrish isn't his first, or second language.

fwiw, i had my brand new SE less than 2hrs before I stripped all the plastics off of it in the garage, and changed the oil. I did find that the steering damper was rubbing on the wiring harness, so I pulled that down out of the way. I also went ahead a put a turn or two on all coolant hose clamps. cleaned up the mess the dealer made when they drained out the shipping/storage oil and put in regular oil that morning. also wiped down all those grease pen spots from the QC process that were on seeming every bolt on the bike.

I am still cleaning the grease off the bike, I should just wipe the chain down and start over.

I was able to pull some slack from the cluster connection and tuck the harness underneatch until I can get a GPR damper on the bike and remove the factory damper. It seems like we should all take our bikes apart after buying them and check them ourselves. The $600.00 PDI is BS and they seem to miss the things they should catch. On a good note, the tech put so much chain grease on chain that the tail of my bike was white and black speckled after the 40 mile ride home after buying the bike and after 1700 miles it is still making a mess. I clean it after every ride.
I have yet to go through my bike to check for that stuff, but I did also have that issue with my first ride mlot. The dealer LOADED the chain with white lithium and after every ride the left side undertail area of my bike is always plastered with grease
