Default Wheel Bearings recall

don't know if this is a repost

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/reca...derbird-storm/

Triumph Motorcycles is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Triumph Daytona 675 and Triumph Street Triple motorcycles, along with certain 2012 Triumph Thunderbird and Triumph Thunderbird Storm motorcycles, for wheels that were assembled with bearings of an unknown quality.
Because wheel bearings of poor quality could fail unexpectedly, Triumph is notifying potentially affected owners, and will have Triumph dealers replace the wheel bearings free of charge. Concerned owners can contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010, and as always the NHTSA is also available at 1-888-327-4236 and safercar.gov.

Definitely a repost but its all good.

I called Triumph and gave them the last 5 digits of my VIN and I was not effected by this.

Didn't think I was affected, but dealer said they ran my VIN and I was flagged for new wheel bearings and new headlights. They said they already got the parts and I just need a time to have them do it. I thought I was outside the range, but guess not. I recommend people call their dealers and run their VIN.

I read the first post and called Triumph a month ago. They said, "Your Daytona is not in the recall."

Yesterday I received a letter from Triumph saying, "your triumph is in the recall."

Called my dealer today to get the bike scheduled for the replacement and he called back at the end of the day saying, "your triumph isn't in the recall. Apparently it affects only bikes with the gold wheels."

Tomorrow I call Triumph and ask "WTF?"

x

edit: I called Triumph and left a message about the mixed messages. I get a call back that says - have your dealer call to get prior authorization. New wheel bearings are on us.

Still scratching my head.

Same for me went though this today. My dealer even went so far as to call Triumph and was told im not included.

also, it covers grey and gold wheels. not just gold wheels. One would think they would know which vin's have which colors.

Hmm, this is interesting. I've had a suspicion that my wheel bearings have become noisy. My wheels are gold too. Maybe I should call the dealership today.
