in short, this is a petition to stop federal funding for motorcycle-only checkpoints. needs a lot more signatures and it's still a long ways off so please share with others and please research topic. more info on the subject can be found here by AMA:

although half of me thinks this might also be a very good way to catch a lot of bike thieves... stolen items etc...

Police checkpoints are already illegal in Oregon and Washington.

I did sign though.

This is a controversial topic indeed.
I personally would not be affected if the check points are there or not.
However with the amount of illicit motorcycles on the road I'm not surprised that these actions are being taken. Let alone that but the behavior of motorcyclists on the road behaving lawlessly has motivated law enforcing entities to react in such a way.

I still think they should put a little stricter laws on being able to buy a motorcycle, but that is just me, I like Australia's law of starting small and going bigger over time if wanting to.

Japan is similar. You start out with a low cc bike with low cc license.
Then you work your way up/\
