Default Questions from my first day ride..

Did 250 today on my new to me 2010 STriple A few questions..

1. Will a flyscreen and windshield prevent the buffeting? Over 80 it feels like the wind is trying to lift my helmet off..

2. Without a gas gauge, what is your favorite method to estimate when it time for fuel. I cannot see the digital Trip meter.

3. When you first rode your Triple did you think the engine temp indicator was the gas gauge?? I did and I thought damn this bike really gets great gas mileage Then when I stopped at a red light in town it started making gas!! Shortly after this stop I finally realized what I had been looking at

How do you keep this bike below 70 mph?? All day I thought I was cruising at 55 and it was 70. It gets there so easy with no strain.

Thanks for your input..

I just wait for the yellow gas light to come on, then I know I better get gas soon, lol.

Also, after any longer trip, refuel before putting away.

The more you ride, the more you'll figure out a general fuel range until the light will come on. On my first Daytona, it was generally 150-160miles. This second daytona has been track only since I bought it, so I couldn't tell you. I fill up at lunch regardless.

Tuck and get stream lined, best way to deminish that. Could also be ur helmet that u might need to upgrade.

Stay below 70? maybe keep it in Neutral and just rev it?

Re #2 .... Allot depends on your height and riding position, for me the Fly screen moved the wind blast from mid body to right under my chin making the buffeting worse, some taller rider report the same when the windscreen is added. I prefer the clean air without either. Your helmet choice is also very important with a naked. Helmets designed for a sport bike tuck position fail miserably in noise and aerodynamics when sitting upright. A more "touring" design like the Shoei Qwest will be calmer and quieter at highway speed. My X-11 is miserable on the Street Triple, Shark RSV2 is surprisingly more stable I assume because it has a larger chin bar surface area like a "touring" design but was really loud when I had the high pipes, the Qwest is very stable and much quieter.

Staying under 70 ......you could install a 90 tooth rear sprocket

.

Default Hey Orangeman--

Fellow Floridian-- thanks for the helmet idea. I am currently wearing a Scorpion 700 because of the no fog shield and price. I am not sure I can bring myself to spend $400 on a lid Does anyone else have feedback on the Scorpion? I am 5'8" if that matters.

On another matter, I will be sending the stock seat to Spencer for a redue. It keeps pushing me into the tank and could be more comfortable. Let the mods begin.
