Storing D675 inside

Hi Guys,

Quick question for the Forum. I am looking to store my bike in my office this winter, as i think it will both look cool, and give me the ability to park my car in the garage over the winter. I was hoping to get some advice on what kind of prep work should be done before i bring it inside.

I think the biggest thing i have read to remove the gas from it. I wanted to see what peoples comments were on this, and also to see how i would go about draining it. Would i be able to syphon more of it out, and then fire it up until it runs out of gas?

I dont want to have complications in the spring so i thought i would ask some expert advise.

so long as you add fuel stabilizer you shouldn't have to worry about draining the tank as your bike would presumable be exposed to less moisture while indoors, and then if you have some stands then you would definetely want to keep it off the tires so they don't get lopsided.

Hi Thank you for the reply. I was thinking of removing gas because it will be inside where people are. Was more worried about gas smell, and fire hazards.

My bike has been stored/on display twice for a month in my office lobby. The first time I siphoned out most of the gas from the tank. The second time I forgot and left it there with a full tank. No one ever mentioned any scent of gas or oil.

i would empty the gas out of it just to prevent you from getting the urge to fire it up and ride it around the office.

You should siphon out the gas if you're going to store it inside. Suppose there is a slight leak and vapor gets out, a spark could cause trouble.

garaged winter storage:

Startron (or any fuel stabilizer) make sure to ride it through system. some argue for a full tank others for an empty tank. i would think full since moisture cant condensate inside

battery tender (wal mart $25 or less, comes with little plug in thingy)

Put front/rear stand

Lube chain

/ thread

Papa - good point. I had removed the battery and had it on a tender back at the house.

I just want to reiterate the front and rear stand. More the rear than the front of course.

But a good idea for not only winter, but oil changes and other basic maintenance :D

I have a different bike in the house every winter. Never drained them. Never smelled gas.
I have my track bike (R6) in the house for this winter, to upgrade the rearsets, the forks/shocks, and brakes.
