Default Questions about buying from out of state

Hello,

Quick question. What if I saw a bike in another state and wanted it shipped over? I recall seeing somewhere that there could be (emission) issues when trying to purchase a bike out of state and shipping to California. Is this true? What issues might come up?

After a lot of different Google attempts, I believe I found what I needed. Just need the correct phrasing to get some decent results. Yay ... for California's supposed 7500 mileage crap. :P

Yeah from what I have heard if it is passed the 7500 mileage you should be fine, before that, I believe you have a lot BS you have to go through since everything in your state causes cancer.

Mileage isn't an issue if you are moving into California though.

Just have the bike inspected by CHP instead of the DMV. They just make sure the VIN matches and is not stolen. No emissions issues whatsoever.

I bought mine from Texas and had it shipped here (600 for that). Had 3400miles and had it inspected at DMV, they just matched the vin and engine block numbers to pass it. But had to pay 850 to get it registered in CA!! All and all it's easy peazy

if you really want to trick them - just swap airbox covers with someone from CA. they really only look to see if your bike has the sticker saying it's 50 state approved. i pointed the carbon canister out to them and they said nope - we need to see the sticker.

I purchased from Cali and brought back to Nevada. It had 5900 miles on it. I rode it back with insurance paper, title and my license.

Registered and transfer title to Nevada, costed under $20 for title transfer. Also applicable registration fees.

It was easy.

I just purchased my 675 last week in Cali, with my NV license and residency. I registered my 675 in Cali thru dealer, no problem.
