Do guys use a different weight oil other then what is recommended in the owners manual for your race bike? My engine is stock but as a race bike we are always in the higher RPM's.
I tried finding something in the forum search but nothing popped up so figured I would ask.

Are you serious? Every Daytona is a race bike.

Find a post by Doublen675 and read 'all about oil' from the link in his sig.
As a result of reading from that thread, I started running truck oil in my 675 at the track. Now I've been racing my SV for ages...also running truck oil. Love the stuff. O.B |

Ive been running Shell Rotella Full Synthetic 5W-40 (comes in a blue bottle)ever since I started doing trackdays...never had an engine problem.
Probably the cheapest oil out there you can use. It also has the JASO-MA certification on there too to put yourself at ease.

I use the blood of baby seals mixed with my own urine.
Seriously though any oil works, whatever you are using now works. These bikes are made to race, so why would they say use an oil weight that would not work on the track?

Thanks for rephrasing that for me! The reason I ask is because the previous owner used this stuff I have never heard of.....its Spectro Platinum 4 15W 50 he said it's the stuff he highly recommends but this was coming from a guy who bought the bike from the original racer and it sat in his garage for a year without racing it and sold it to me. Myself personally I used the mobile 1 T4 synthetic oil on my CBR600.
