check your R/R...I have a 2010 and needed to replace it a few months ago

Had that happen to my girl's bike at the end of last year. Is an 08 so mounted on the engine next to the pipe (brilliant). Even with better placement on the newer models, it's still an old school shunt style r/r. Basically, absorbs the load. Highly recommend following this excellent write-up:

Upgrade to a late model CBR r/r and your stator, r/r, and wallet will thank you in the longrun.
