Default gasket?

My bike is in the shop right now getting the stator put on and new r/r and my fork seals are being done as well, even though that has nothing to do with what i'm asking. But the guy told me when you change the stator or whatever, i should change the gasket? is that actually necessary?

necessary is a relative term, but yes it is true.

It's a less-than-$10 part.... let 'em replace it, for the sake of your safety and that motors longevity.

You could always hunker down and spend money on the race versions that are reusable gaskets if you see yourself taking off one of the covers frequently.

In a pinch you can always put Red RTV round your existing used one (provided it is intact for the most part). I had to do this trackside for a stupid mistake on my part and this worked (and still is) working fine.

I don't have a problem replacing parts, but I'm doing a track day may 13-14(small window for ordering parts) but the gasket is Back ordered until the 27th. So I would need it here asap because they haven't installed my stator or r/r because they are waiting on that part so they can do it all together
