My uncle has the same engine/trans in his company truck, your going to get about 8mpg at best.

Well he's had it since 2002, i think, and he still has it, although he lives a mile from work and works in the office, so it doesn't get driven all that much. No major horror stories that i've heard.

My buddy had that truck. I remember the day he bought it brand new. First allison trans went at 7k. At 110k and 3 transmissions later he sold it. It was in the shop for a total of 4 months in the 3 years he had it(just called him to make sure those #'s were right). The truck itself was very nice and I loved the interior. As said gas mileage was shit though. He may have had a bad one who knows....just sharing his experience with that truck.

If it were me, i'd look for a dodge 2500 with a cummins. My sisters is a 2003 with 95k miles on it and hasn't had a single thing wrong with it. Plus your going to get better fuel economy and more pulling power. I swear, every time i drive it, that its faster them my slightly modified Scion tC, which is less then half the weight.
